Hello, I will be moving from Texas to Quito. Anybody have mover recommendations?

Depends on what you are moving and if you will be getting a residency visa which affects if and how much duty you will pay on your shipment.

"which effects if and how much duty you will pay on your shipment"

OH, you meant "AFFECTS". Have been trying to explain to you, FOR YEARS, your consistent and insistent mistake. Did you say you want to educate and enlighten the forum participants? And that you have credentials? LOL
Check with your favorjte dictionary , but do not write anothpage of allegations of my stupidity!

SIMPLE - is to produce an effect. (very rarely used as a verb) is to cause some consequence.

WVolpe3, check recommendations at Gringo Tree and Gringo post. A few good movers have more than one rec each

I HATE GRAMMAR GRUNTERS ! Editors are bad enough to have to deal with, but to be subjected to snarky post by a critic of speech and grammar who is too lazy to go back and proof read their own mistake riddled criticism, defies belief !
One of the keys to polite discourse on this or any other site, is to read contextually and respond to the idea, not criticize the articulation.
Let he/she who is without sin cast the first blue pencil !

ABSOLUTELY!!!.oh wait getting a "whee bit scatol

Oh and Kmori ...thank you for not using that horrible fall back term so many use and creatively choosing to call our friend a GRUNT instead...

...because yes he participates only in grunts...rather like the sound made by something on the order of a Troglodyte...and not the contribution of a human participant

And I hereby admit... something that will no doubt be brought up in 2 or 3 years out of the blue by someone trying to make a point about me being ...well...ME...

I made only a 560 on the English SAT and I am ...ASHAMED

I admit that t...yes... 35 years after... did not have a perfect score on the SAT (horrors... the shame..) Mind you I have never claimed to have had perfect scores -- but people assume some pretty silly stuff about me. One fellow called me "Patty or Patsy Hewe"-like the other day... I had to look it up! She's a character on a television program. She must be ballsy...she's played by Glenn Close.

I do from time to time ...make a silly grammatical mistake and confusing effect...like the gravitational effect... from affect (as in the affectation of intelligence by our current "grunter") is one of my major ones. Bravo to Grunting while thinking...in that out of everything I have ever posted on this site...for years...and years...that is his come away thought. That takes some really special tunnel vision. And that deserves...our special attention.

:)

...want a cookie?

I did however have a 790 on the Biology ACT ...if anyone is keeping score

The grammar police needs to do their homework. The tirade is back-assward.

effects
plural noun – goods; movables; personal property

affect
verb (used with object)
1. to act on; produce an effect or change in:
Cold weather affected the crops.
2. to impress the mind or move the feelings of:
The music affected him deeply.
3. (of pain, disease, etc.) to attack or lay hold of.
noun
4. Psychology. feeling or emotion.
5. Psychiatry. an expressed or observed emotional response:

"SIMPLE - is to produce an effect. (very rarely used as a verb) is to cause some consequence.

OH,is this how you ? Edit my posts into total incomprehension? And not the first time either :(
LOL, and very sad. Feel really sorry for you.

This ends my writing career on this forum

"The grammar police " gave a simpler explanation than you, but it was "edited" into a totally incomprehensible nonsense.

FYI "effect:" has more than one meaning and does not have to be plural.

Ef - going inward, like in "efferent nerves",
Af - going outward, like in "afferent nerves"

I also dislike police, but this was a special case LOL Because, OH aspires to "educate and enlighten"
not only me LOL

ON THE SUBJECT - Gringo Tree and Gringo Post actually give recommendations by the people who used different movers. I am not one of the people who used the movers, for which reason cannot recommend anybody. Nor should other people recommend services they have not used

Justathought, I went to your profile and it says you joined the forum in 2013. You then go on to say that you don't live in Ecuador but will be moving here in late 2013.
Then in another thread you said you have lived in Cuenca since 2010.
Are you just very confused or are you just a little loose with the facts?
I've always said that when you become an expat a lot of folks get to reinvent themselves. Congrats, you've done a good job of that

Jat --

Actually ...

That is exactly how you posted your message.

Perhaps it would help if rather than criticizing my writing, you took a moment to calm your manic glee at finding an error, take a deep breath, and review your post prior to hitting send. You would find that there are numerous errors in most of your postings but ... they move past the insignificant to the message being communicated.

What your post has now communicated is ... a touch of manic paranoia -- once again I did nothing to any of your posts on this thread.

justathought,
" This ends my writing career on this forum " ???
That statement contains several things which I would question.
Firstly, your 'writing career' implies that a) you are a professional and receive renumeration for writing on this forum; b) this forum is your vocation; and c) you won't be posting again - a thought devoutly wished for, but I fear, a promise you will be unable to keep, given the size of you ego.
Still, one can hope.

RON...EGO...Awwww now this really pisses me off!!!!! I thought my ego was bigger than anyone elses...ask my business assocites.
