The other option might be Magic Jack. You can put their app on your phone. It will allow you to call from Ecuador to anywhere in the US and Canada for only the cost of the yearly subscription,(about $40), as long as you have wifi. Anyone can call you and all they would pay would be the long distance charges to the area code that you picked when you set it up. If they were a local call to that area code then no charges either way.
If you are not at a wifi spot when they called it would go to voicemail which is delivered to your Email.
