Basha123, Only if you sell it to me for $25 when you are ready to leave. Wink wink!
Yes, it should work just fine! Take it with you to Claro or Moviestar and they will set it up for you when you buy the chip for about 5 or 6 bucks.

Skye should work fine with a Skype to Skype call. No charges. The other option might be Magic Jack. You can put their app on your phone. It will allow you to call from Ecuador to anywhere in the US and Canada for only the cost of the yearly subscription,(about $40), as long as you have wifi. Anyone can call you and all they would pay would be the long distance charges to the area code that you picked when you set it up. If they were a local call to that area code then no charges either way. If you are not at a wifi spot when they called it would go to voicemail which is delivered to your Email.
