This is going to be somewhat of a mess!

Hello,
My Name is Dustin Sargent-Davis (yes that is my last name). I am new to the site. I am currently planning my first trip to Ecuador (which will take place in August after hay season). I will be traveling with my two year old son. I am retired from the Marine Corps and am looking for my new home. I am hoping that Ecuador will be it. I currently live in Colorado. I own a 240 acre ranch here and am well versed in animals (goats, chickens, cows, horses, pigs and own all of the above). I grew up on the Washington state coast and stationed in costal California for several years. So I also enjoy the ocean life. That was many years ago, but loved sailing and fishing (I have ASA certifications and fished out of Dutch Harbor when I was in my late teens). I would love to farm or be in a farm community or .... ocean. I would prefer not to be in big metropolitan areas, but not opposed to visit.
I have read just about every post from July of this last year until current. I enjoy my man sinego!!! I also love the banter between Doc and Ocean Hideaway! Thank you guys for all of your posts and responses!

Vilcabamba comes up often by many. I know this is where sinego is at. All I hear is good things. Does anyone have any cons for this area?
Olon is another area of interest. Has anyone been? What are your thoughts?
Tena is quite fun I hear too, but would it be appropriate for my son?
My Spanish is fair and thanks to Rosetta Stone getting better by the day!
I also have seen posts referring to the Ecuador Expat Journeys. I comes highly recommended by some of you. I would think for $1200-$1400 I could come pay some of you very well and have a better experience for a longer period of time. I am sure you guys have connections up and down the coastline. I am also hoping someone is listening that has some farm communities to recommend also. Or maybe you guys can take me in for a sum of money? I am starting my plan now, would love to have the friends and input!
