I felt a good bump from it here in Cuenca. I am still waiting for the big one near Guayaquil that has been predicted.

I get worried about some folks...when they seem disappointed that something big and bad hasn t happened....yet...but they are so excited looking forward to it...
Personally, I think Ecuador had enough on April 16th...but the continuing over 2300 replicas since then, are still being experienced...
Of course, I am someone who lives in a state of reality and regularly takes her medication. Perhaps that is why I get no vicarious thrill contemplating impending castrophes.
I believe that there is a vicarious thrill, which is why folks go see disaster movies, or ride on amusement park rides...but I am not one of them, either.

Hmmm...let's just say that the "science" around predicting earthquakes is somewhat more "social" than "factual".
It wouldn't be too difficult to pull some historical information together, to guess where the next one might be (and it is little more than a guess), based largely on where the plates intersect, where the most recent large quake has been, and where the stresses have likely built up along the chain...That would be as "scientific" an approach as that being used by your sources...
It's funny...Susan touched nicely on the same feelings I get when I read your posts on this topic...That is, it seems less like you're an interested observer/amateur earthquake researcher, and more that you're "barracking" for the poorest possible outcome.
Wishing will not make it so, fortunately...

Expatsooner, you are making a lot of assumptions about what I do and what my sources are. You need to do your own research into these events. They are fascinating at the very least. Geology has nothing to do with social but rather scientific events. There are studies that have been "socialized" ie fracking and "politicized" but that has zero interest to me. Do your own research, it can be fun and enlightening. You are right about one thing, no one can predict with any degree of accuracy when an earthquake will occur but predictions or probabilities based on science are there for the reading. When you are seeing hundreds or even thousands of geological events in one day in given areas, you can deduce that major events could and probably will follow, however, on its own time schedule.

@expatsooner.........Based on the criteria and more that you already mentioned the "experts" are getting better at it......but they sure missed the big one, didnt they? Btw, a 3.7 is nada.......not even worth a second thought for those of us who live along the ring of fire..........

Dumluk, The experts were chatting about our event before it happened. I had discussions with friends about the "big one on the coast near Canoa" the day before and the day of the earthquake. Just because the press doesn't report the mundane issues, like predictions and probabilities, doesn't mean the people that are following geological events are asleep at the wheel. Dumluk, dig into the information that is available, It is very interesting. Take a look at the Zona Rojo in Costa Rica that stretches down to the area you live in. You might enjoy watching and monitoring the events. It is kind of like watching grass grow though. lol

I'd love to W.S. Can you throw a link or two my way to save me a whole bunch of googling? Weve got 3 plates comin together right off of Punta Burrica on the Panama/costa Rica border........definately puts us square in the RED ZONE...........It seems that most of the construction here in Panama is better built, more seismically sound than in Ecuador.......I noticed it too when I was there 3 years ago.........Im sure that when they rebuild they will do it better and stronger.......So you were talking to geologists about the big one the day before? Tell me more porfa...........

Dumluk There are many sites, universities, government agencies, and other sources that provide reams of information that could be of interest to you. Get a background about plate tectonics and move your way though the various types of information you enjoy studying. It is just brain food. You can find everything from animal behavior response, lunar effects, relationships of other earthquakes, ie deep event effects and predictions for surface actions, to cross plate effects, probabilities, histories, yady yady yady.... I think this site might be interesting to you; http://www.igepn.edu.ec/ Also search for live seismograph information and learn to read and understand what you are seeing for your region and follow. One person that I pay attention to is touted as a bit of a tin hatter but has had some pretty good sucess at predictions is Dutchsense. You can find him and lots of other current information using a boolean search on internet. I like his info as a source of raw data that sometimes doesn't seem to appear anywhere else. You can also find tons of conspiracy theories, if that is your thing, that all the sciences are being controlled by the government, aliens, and distressed old women.....

Similar to Godwin's law (of the internet) which has been lifted for the duration of this election cycle... we have a similar law here in the lower portion of the forum...
...when talk turns to conspiracy theories we know that the subject has run its course. When it turns to discussion of NWO, we know its time to close the the thread...
One last thought though before the free for all begins...
A building that survived a 7.8 in april ...can come down through repeated 3.7 and up replicas...so these are just as much a concern with the some high rises that have yet to be brought down or are staying up but barely.

Oh I love this...
from dumluk ...
"...considering that the names which should "not be mentioned above a whisper" own most everything of import............."
Everything of import(ance)?
Let me think about that, for just a moment:
Everything of importance to me...my happiness, my freedom and independence and personal liberty... I own that. I have all of that in my power and my control and it is up to me to maintain and keep it.
And as for those names which dumluk seems to feel he can only whisper... tell me those names because i will shout them out... in fact I might sing them...
I know most of the numbers to the Sheldon Harnick musicals so ...the Rothschilds...are a snap :)
Now take your conspiracy theories...and a 40 cents...and buy yourself a coca cola... I promise you´ll feel refreshed when you finish drinking it...but remember, return the bottle.
...and then, if you can...get a life.

Update.....
Yes folks we have a real winner here...
DumLuk is... an antisemite...
****...I highly doubt anyway, then it certainly wasnt speaking to or about the European Askenazi Kazarian converted Jews who dont have a drop of Semitic blood and who rule over Palestine like warlords...***
Every few months one of you folks show up here...and it really becomes tiresome. But what you folks do is show the incredible stupidity and ignorance, not mention complete cultural insensitivity that exists in the Cybersphere and ...unfortunately amongst a specific group of folks who "want to come to Ecuador".
So why don´+t we get rid o tese trolls? Good question! Because that would be censorship... which does nothing for providing the information...both via words, and by what you can read between the lines... of the people you might be dealing with if you choose to move to Ecuador.
Because one thong youlearn as an expat... we are ALL different..and we only have one thing in common, that we are all expats. That´s it.
Now rather than countering the arguments, here are the short answers ...Yes Jews who are Ashkenazi are really Jews ...Yes are genetic make up is similar to people from the Middle East and not to our neighbors in Eastern Europe... ... Yes there was a kingdom in Eastern Europe that did convert to Judaism, it was small and that was in the 9th century BCE.
Now for those who are curious about this, here´s a great cut&paste from Yahoo Answers... I like how this guy puts it...and it saves me the trouble of repeating what I have shared before...
Your question details a false premise; "blood" never determined Jewish identity for the Jewish people.
Most Jews never heard of the Khazars until antisemites came up with a bizarre tale.
The only people I have ever seen adopt those notions are people who either 1) wish to support the hijacking of Jewish identity with a replacement theology ( that they are the "real" Jews..(there are several very different groups that claim this) or 2) Wish to claim that the Jewish people do not have a right to the Jewish homeland of Israel because we're not really the Jewish people.
While Mizrahi ( Jews whose ancestry never left Africa and the Middle East) are not the majority of Jews in the world at large, they are the vast majority of Jews living in Israel.
Both of those methods of discrediting Jewish identity are lacking entirely in logic or honesty and they are disrespectful of basic human rights.
Jewish identity has never been determined by race, or blood. It is about laws.
The Jews have been multi-racial since the Exodus, multi-cultural since the destruction of the FIRST Temple and multi ethnic since that time, too.
One of the 2 books of the Jewish Bible to be named for a woman is named for a convert to Judaism, and the ancestor of King David.
Torah has deemed converts to Judaism as Jewish as Abraham and Sarah ever since the beginning OF the covenant.
Now..as to the Khazar story. In the early days of the spread of Christianity through Europe, it did so at the tip of the sword. The story of the Khazars, a small nation state of Turkey the size of a small city, who converted to Judaism rather than to submit to the sword of Christendom, OR to the sword of the Islamic
Caliphate nations it had defeated has been a thorn in the side of the antisemite for centuries. It was a small kingdom that refused to be overcome by forced conversions when both of those other religions were being used to conquer and subdue nations. This small group of Jewish converts were thus always demonized for having rejected the "offer" to convert to Christianity or die.
While the Khazar royalty and part of the general population followed and converted to Judaism sometime in the 9th century, they left a negligible impact upon Judaism in either cultural or linguistic evidence. Their importance as a group was as slap in the face to the Christian armies and Arab Caliphates sweeping through that part of the world converting people at the tip of the sword. The false claim that Ashkenazi were all Khazar is devoid of knowledge of history.
Jews were already living in Europe before the Khazar conversions, the claim is anachronistic.
It is also bizarre to me that Jew haters would try to somehow claim even if any living Jews could trace some Khazar ancestry, are somehow less Jewish than any other convert.
The children of the 9th century coverts to Judaism were born just as Jewish as Isaac and just as Jewish as King David.
Are these same antisemites going to claim that the Moabite, Ruth, and all who descended from her (including according to Christian dogma, Jesus ) were somehow not real Jews?
Besides the references I list at the bottom, I will suggest: “ The Barbarian Conversion: From Paganism to Christianity” by Oxford scholar and Christian, Richard Fletcher whose scholarly works have won the Wolfson Literarary History Award and the Los Angeles Times Book Award for History.
Chapter 9, Rival Monotheisms will enlighten you. From the beginning of thecovenant of Israel onward, anyone who comes to embrace the eternal covenant through formal conversion becomes a VERY REAL member of the nation of Israel and a real Jew.
DNA evidence and history reveal that there were several migrations of Jews from the middle east through Europe.
Not only does the modern study of genetics disprove the absurd claims of the antisemites, a study of linguistics with regards to Jewish languages and their development and spread also disprove them.
So, for their claims to be accepted one must ignore many things and adopt an attitude of disrespect of human rights for a people to have laws of self-determination.
They must adopt a stance to disrespect the Jewish people's own history, Jewish law, secular history, and dismiss biology and linguistic evidence.
They don't make any logical point to any logical person. http://www.jewish-languages.org/
This is a link to a source that is a scholarly study of the development of Jewish languages. It will help you if you are interested in studying the different Jewish cultures. The development of languages reveals the spread of the people whose languages influenced their own...and vice versa.
.and we can all get back to... living our lives...
And just what do you have against ...coca cola??? That´s downright...unAmerican!

Thats the Jews favorite tactic, whenever they come under criticism, to say that the critic is anti-semetic. But how can I be anti-semetic when these so called Jews are not really semetic Jews but Kazars disguised as Jews? Im not anti- semetic......Im anti zionist..........And theres lots of crooked politicians like John "insane" McCain and Hilliarity who are very much war mongering Zionists........Now Susan is correct when she states that there are numerous studies and opinions out there, and new information surfacing all the time, so do your own research and come to yur own conclusions........but I leave you with this brief but explicit video documentary. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lJWeyrnKqvA And as for the Coca Cola question........its obvious you have not made a study of diet and nutrition either, or you would know what a junk product CocaCola is........Just another vice..........Not my vice of choice..........And like Walmart, dont like their style of doing business, so dont support them..........At the level they are on, it is call run amok Capitalism, not free enterprise......Theres a difference..........

And...
we allow fools like Dumluk to continue posting because... they pretty much self-prove their idiocy.
I especially like his poignant rebuttal: "Thats the Jews favorite tactic, whenever they come under criticism, to say that the critic is anti-semetic" (sic)
Because in his world, attacking a Jew is simply being ...I´m not really sre what... but is not being anti Jewish, which as we all now is what anti-semitic means.
And for those who are unaware, the history of that word, here is some information:: Antisemitism (also spelled anti-Semitism or anti-semitism) is hostility, prejudice, or discrimination against Jews. A person who holds such positions is called an antisemite. Antisemitism is widely considered to be a form of racism. The root word Semite gives the false impression that antisemitism is directed against all Semitic people.
However, the compound word antisemite was popularized in Germany in 1879 as a scientific-sounding term for Judenhass "Jew-hatred", and that has been its common use since then.
Antisemitism may be manifested in many ways, ranging from expressions of hatred of or discrimination against individual Jews to organized pogroms by mobs, state police, or even military attacks on entire Jewish communities. Although the term did not come into common usage until the 19th century, it is now also applied to historic anti-Jewish incidents. Notable instances of persecution include the Rhineland massacres preceding the First Crusade in 1096, the Edict of Expulsion from England in 1290, the massacres of Spanish Jews in 1391, the persecutions of the Spanish Inquisition, the expulsion from Spain in 1492, the Cossack massacres in Ukraine of 1648–1657, various anti-Jewish pogroms in the Russian Empire between 1821 and 1906, the 1894–1906 Dreyfus affair in France, the Holocaust in German-occupied Europe, official Soviet anti-Jewish policies, and Arab and Muslim involvement in the Jewish exodus from Arab and Muslim countries.
If anyone here is interested in this subject, be sure to spell the word correctly (something else DumLuk fails to do, repeatedly)
KHAZAR
The Khazar hypothesis of Ashkenazi ancestry, often called by its critics the "Khazar myth",[1]: 369[2]: VIII[3][4] is the hypothesis that Ashkenazi Jews are descended from the Khazars, a multi-ethnic conglomerate of Turkic peoples who formed a semi-nomadic Khanate in the area extending from Eastern Europe to Central Asia. The hypothesis draws on some medieval sources such as the Khazar Correspondence, according to which at some point in the 8th-9th centuries, the ruling elite of the Khazars was said by Judah Halevi and Abraham ibn Daud to have converted to Rabbinic Judaism.[5] The scope of the conversion within the Khazar Khanate remains uncertain: the evidence used to tie the Ashkenazi communities to the Khazars is exiguous and subject to conflicting interpretations.[6][7]
This hypothesis has had a complex history within academia. While most contemporary scholars dismiss it, the hypothesis has often been argued in the past, and still finds occasional defenders of its plausibility. In the late 19th century, Ernest Renan and other scholars speculated that the Ashkenazi Jews of Europe originated among Turkic refugees who had migrated from the collapsed Khazarian Khanate westward into Europe, and exchanged their native Khazar language for Yiddish while continuing to practice Judaism. Though intermittently evoked by several scholars since that time, the Khazar-Ashkenazi hypothesis came to the attention of a much wider public with the publication of Arthur Koestler's The Thirteenth Tribe in 1976.[8] It has been revived recently by Eran Elhaik, who in 2012 conducted a study aiming to vindicate it.[9] Despite skepticism, he reformulated the concept in 2016 by developing a novel method of genetic analysis that uses the fringe linguistic theories of the Yiddish expert Paul Wexler.[10]
Genetic studies on Jews have found no substantive evidence of a Khazar origin among Ashkenazi Jews, as opposed to evidence they have mixed Near Eastern/Mediterranean/Southern European origins.[11]
The hypothesis has been used at times by anti-Zionists to challenge the idea Jews have ancestral ties to ancient Israel, and has also played a role in antisemitic attitudes

Let me explain this one more time...
I am the Moderator, not the Administrator of this Site.
I do not publish anyone´s posts.
If your post did not publish it means one of two things:
Either the Site did not accept the post for publication
OR
You lost your post before it posted to the page due to a problem with the internet.
I am the Moderator. I Moderate threads.
What this means is that if there is a duplicate post, or a post in the wrong place, or trolling or spamming, I will clean up the thread.
The exception to removing a troll is, of course, when they are so insidious and annoying in their trolling, that it becomes necessary to make them an object lesson. Case in point...You.
If I see a post that has not yet made it through the line I will often times click it in as well to speed up the process of thread posting..
So for a moment, set your paranoia aside in regards to my censoring your posts. Most likely you included a word that was spotted by the forum filter and the post was not allowed and didn´t post.
In conclusion... The NWO is not out to get you. The Jews are not taking over the world.
And I am not keeping your posts from the forum
Now... go haunt the Panama forum, since that is the country you have chosen to reside in. And keep your rude, slimey, anti-semitic self off this part of the site.
