Employment Needed

Post New Topic

Hi,

In late August I was told by the University that I would not have a renewed contract for employment. I have been searching for employment since then, unsuccessfully.

I will soon be out of funds and food.

I have a back injury, spondylolisthesis grade 2, which prevents me from lifting anything and from turning my torso. This is why, the university hiring season having passed, I am now unable to find employment.

I am in need of employment. Below is my CV/Resume. Please let me know if you can offer me employment.

Manta tiger has the right idea...

Upwork, Fiverr.com, Freelancer.com. GURU.com , and if you want to try the big one for research AskWonder.com

Pick up a few of the books on Amazon to find out what each is and how best to present yourself.

It´s not going to make you rich in a day or a month..it takes a few months to get into the system, build up your online credentials and more , but it is possible.

You´ll have to live pretty lean for the next few months until it all comes together and just keep sending proposals and taking skill tests (the ones on Upwork are free, other sites require you pay for them)

Also get to know grammarly.com

By the way, I speak from first-hand experience. It´s how I pick up cash myself. Be sure to have a pretty good wifi connection, a solid place to work (a table and chair and non-interrupted time. And stick with it!

Be willing to take anything to start, just to get your street cred.

Good luck and let us now how it goes.

Susan

Thank you for all of these online suggestions.

My current needs assessment indicates that I need either a job that will get IESS coverage back for me so that I have a reasonable chance of surviving surgery if and when it becomes absolutely necessary (it's already necessary to stabilize the column, since a disc is ruptured and a tendon snapped, but I'm trying to avoid having the column fused and would like some way to get a flexible replacement disc with the 'rubber band' replacement tendons instead), or a job that will provide me with some quick cash as I wait to apply to universities for the next semester, which begins in March. Otherwise, an interesting job in the Cuenca area, as long as transportation is provided or covered in my pay, would be ideal.

I suppose that until I have one of those, I will have time to try out online work, although in the past that has left me with a bad taste, since hundreds of hours of doing online work of my own, and searching for online employment, have been fruitless.

It looks like AskWonder would be helpful for doing research, which is something I'm interested in, but does not have any employment opportunities.

As a resident you can pay into the IESS system for your health care coverage.
