Wife and I are going to Galapagos and then traveling around Ecuador for 7 days. We would like to see Cuenca, Guayaquil, Banos, and Salinas---my question is: should I rent a vehicle, hire a taxi driver or look into Ecuador's bus system? I've looked into private transportation and was quoted $200 per day plus expenses--such as hotel stay and food consumption for the private driver. What's your opinions? Thank You.

That is a great deal and at least i can say the lowest price i've heard so far. If the quality of service is as good and if he comes highly recommended among the expats. Jack Abercrombie's fees are $350 per day and my fees are $300 per day including expenses, gas, meals, and hotels all included. My good friend Jack native from Georgia is based out of Quito are and i'm based in Guayaquil. Speaking for myself, i've been working with my friends/clients expats for the last 5 years and i can introduce you if it was me offering the tour, to each one of them along the coastal area and/ or Cuenca. I usually stop by their property to say hello and introduce them to my clients so clients can hear from expats experience as well. Starting from my B&B in Guayaquil introducing my guests our ecuadorian culture and its way around. , etc. If you ask me? yes, good deal of price you've found. Welcome to Ecuador sir. Enjoy !!!!

Lotta mountainous roads to travel in 7 days. Por que? What can you possibly hope to accomplish besides a constant state of breathless anxiety, cramping nausea and grimey exhaustion at great expense??? Just spending your extra 7 days on the Galapagos would be more fruitful...
