And the gringos in Olon go bonkers!

Let me provide my caveat... I don´t smoke... cigars.
Hopper, the little cigar, coffee and chocolate shop just under the hostal you stayed in...the mango papers are around the coprners and Yes...eat a mango an hour before ...wait different subject.
If my cigar afficianado comes on line today... Andrew... he can give you the 411.
According to the woman in the shop, the tobacco is from west of Guayaquil and I will stop by to get more info today as I only stopped in to pick up a few more yesterday after getting the seal of approval from Friday´s street test.
I personally hate being near a stinky cigar, and one that has been relit is the worst... that odur de twice lit stoagy is enough for me to walk away... This cigar was clean and I had no problem with someone smoking it nearby, so it passed my test,
I tried to find the cigar online but only came up with something from Nicuragua and Honduras that is called an Ecuador cigar... and has a similar band...but it´s not the same thing.
Stay tuned!
Susan

I enjoy puros made in Colombia by the name of "Consul". I have bought them in Montanita, Santo Domingo, and most recently in La Libertad. $7 for a brick of 25. That is 28 centavos each. I find them sweet and satisfying.....and the price is right.

Now this is a useful thread!
SO my frend and I went to purchase more cigars and he let me pull one of the bands off the ones he got:
The band is the colors of the flag with the escutcheon of Ecuador and it reads
ARTESANO Hecho A Mano Ecuador 0991584495
My best guess is that is their phone number via Claro
From outside Ecuador dial 593-991584495 and you will need to speak Spanish
And that´s the news from my place in Montanita...where it is sunny, breezy (very breezy here on the 3rd floor...as Hopp he´s seen my hippie abode club house apartment with the hatch door terrace and balcony looking to the ocean a block away. Needs work and it´s rustic but it´s got great bones!

I was thinking the terrace because the wind isn´t quite a strong, but the place is compact o it´a short stroll.
I haven´t decided if it i the top deck, the tree house or the garden apartment but I like it.
So for now in cyber space it´s the smoking lounge, welcome gentlemen.
And because you folks have a sense of humor I´ll share this amusing bit that scrolled across my feed today...
It´s amusing... I thin so anyway... Read the Reviews.

And another shout out to the Newly married guy...who should be off canoodling with his bride Mr & Mrs Grasshopper!

Thanks Sue Thanks Cristos I appreciate that a lot :)
We had a blast in Myrtle Beach. ...there were a lot of people on the beach, but only because of the holiday weekend.
Oddly I seemed to be the only one out swimming. (You would think that it Nov or something ...sheesh!) Well, the dolphins were out there with me, so I'm not complaining, lol.
I hope you guys had a great Thanksgiving too! :)

Oh, and thanks for the link to Guthrie's song! I was trying to explain Alice's Restaurant to Shelly.. and did a pretty awful job at it. I think I lost her somewhere along the part about the 8x10 photos with the circles and arrows, (and a paragraph on the back)..
So I never even got to the group W bench, much less the "veins in my teeth" parts.
I just gave up and started singing - "I don't want a pickle.. Just wanna ride on my motorsickle.."
and I'm going to need that Yiddish dictionary to know if I canoodled or not! jaja

Canoodle?
Why that there is 1800´s English! Positively Regency to Vicotrian!
The origins of "canoodle" are obscure. Our best guess is that it may come from an English dialect noun of the same spelling meaning "donkey, fool, or foolish lover," which itself may be an alteration of the word noodle, meaning "a foolish person." That "noodle" in turn may come from "noddle," a word for the head. The guess seems reasonable given that, since its appearance in the language around the mid-19th century, "canoodle" has been most often used jocularly for playful public displays of affection by couples who are head over heels in love.
... In Yiddish we go right to the point and say shtup...shtupink...and of course the famous Lily Von Shtup of Blazing Saddles Fame (...everything below the waist is kaput!)
So tell us about those Dolphins and I don´t mean football!
Oh and welcome to the lounge...put your feet up on the cyber coffee table :) Grab a cyber beverage of your choice and make yourself at home.
... (hands over the lighter)

It´s beginning to feel a lot like Navidad here in Montañita... and you know that feeling is amplified when the parlantes (speakers) on the iglesia across the street starts blaring Rudolf the Red Nose Reindeer ...in Kichwa!
... oh wait...now it´s Dreaming of a white Christmas. which can have such an alternate meaning in this part of the world

Rudolph in Kichwa..... ok. I heard enough bizarre stuff in Montanita do halfway imagine that.
wth is that song the truck plays every day at about 7:30? It may be the trash truck, but it's two or three guys, catchy tune.. peppy.
Anyway, it's weird to get a song stuck in your head that you never quite understood in the first place.. lol.
Long weekend.. hola Hop...

Yes the 7:30 am wake up call! Ecept on those mornings after a really long party...when they are told to go softly through the town.
It´s actually a popular tune and you can hear it at the dance clubs ... of course the Pavolovia response is to immediately get up, put everyting into a plastic bag and walk it out to the curb :)
I went looking for the song but will need to do some deep reearch as in ask my neighbors the name of the tune and ll get it her for you. Then you can whistle like, forever!

Okay everyone can come back...the toilet´s fied!
Actually...
The water was off on the coast for 24 hours...they do this each year to test the strength of the water pumps that bring in water through the reservoir out by Atahualpa.
But that means ...no water for 24 hours and everyone knows in advance through the loudspeaker...and fills a few buckets.
One problem... if you have an old pump, it won´t auto - prime and every year wherever I am the pump will break.
This year...happily... I was not at my hostel where it usually occurs the night before 20 people arrive!
ANd Ihave to pay.
This year it happened at my apartment and...by the time I messaged my landlord... he had already arrived from Guayaquil and was working on the problem.
Anyway... flush toilets are truly one of the best inventions on the planet.
Even more... these folks have other places in the Montañita area that they rent out for short and longer terms. So if you are coming to the MONTAÑITA area, let me know and I will get you their information.

Haha.. Cristos has a good idea - I'd LOVE to have a recording of that morning diddy.. I got to where I was looking forwards to hearing it each morning!
Susan - I really dig the trapdoor going up into your apartment - and you've got a GREAT location in town. Close to the action, but a bit of breathing room - and yes, it would make for a fantastic cigar lounge.
I do enjoy a good stogie ..feet kicked up, and catching some nice ocean breezes. Great idea, my friend.
Oh, I haven't forgotten what we talked about - I'm having a red tape issue with the VA.. but I'll get it straightened out. (I'll tell you off site later - but just know I haven't forgotten)
Your Friend, Hopp

... And today's paper is cherries, I kid you not!
They put up the tree in the park next door and strung it with liughts... Musical lights! 20 different electronic tunes played at the same time...but here it works... The magic of Montanita!
...and. now off to buy Chinese soup :-D

You're a hoot Hopp:) I lived in Parras MX, nice little town, but at six o'clock every f*ing morning these trucks delivering propane and god knows what, would come around one after the other BLARING various Ice-Cream-Truck-from-Hell tunes....
One of my favorite stanzas from Alice's Restaraunt::: "And I went up there, I said, "Shrink, I want to kill. I mean, I wanna, I wanna kill. Kill. I wanna, I wanna see, I wanna see blood and gore and guts and veins in my teeth. Eat dead, burnt bodies. I mean kill, Kill, KILL, KILL." And I started jumpin up and down yelling, "KILL, KILL," and he started jumpin up and down with me and we was both jumping up and down yelling, "KILL, KILL." And the Sergeant came over, pinned a medal on me, sent me down the hall, said, "You're our boy."
Didn't feel too good about it."
I hope you never had to do any of that stuff. I've met some who got a taste for it, (at which point they were sent home and/or not allowed to re-enlist.) And then others who are put off of conflict for life... And then most, who are scared, angry and confused... (But who isn't?) God what a world... spent over 1.4 TRILLION DOLLARS on armaments last year... all no doubt in order to make the world "safer":((( NO, I did not say 'Ornaments'. Happy Holidaze! C7

I think next time I´m going to put up the link to Zappa´s ...Watch out where the Huskies Go ...
Chilly upstairs in the penthouse tonight, breeze off the waves and going to have to put on a sweater.
Anone beleive that Trump USA thread? It takes 20 minutes for it to dump open on my computer screen now... There´s a scatalogical joke in there but I am not going searching for it through all that...oh there it is!
When you realize that the majority are behind a President elect who is defending the Kremlin and denigrating 17 of his own Intelligence Agencies (without "giving them a chance" through skipping daily briefings) it´s time to step back from the keyboard... It´s a no-win situation.
What I can say is I am very glad to be here in Ecuador during this period of history making in the USA.
I can sit here and listen to the waves, other nights to the sounds of the parties up and down the streets. It's a tranquil life.
Even 7 months after an earthquake.
I don´t thin life is very tranquil back in the USA.
So...

Best to translate these weird situations by analogy. Easier to accept when cast in different terms.
Your Grand Mother, who you love dearly has decided to try to leap the grand canyon on a motorcycle. She is nearly 250 years old and has been healthy most of her life but lately she has had mental problems.
You have tried to talk her out of it but the influence of a distant relative in Moscow has proved dominant. She is by God going to fly off that ramp and sail thru the air to the other side. Or go down trying.
Having done all you could you must now walk to the food stand and buy a large box of popcorn, salted and just a little butter - plus a large soft drink or beer. Don't want to get too drunk, this show might be long.
Find a nice seat in the bleachers, huge crowd....everyone in the world is watching. And what a warm up show! The main event isn't til the 20th but already its like nothing we've ever seen. Headlines like....
"Ronald McDonald picked by Rump's transition team for FDA head - Sugary drinks to be mandatory in schools"
or
"Putin hints at White House sleep-over - New First Lady giggles"
or
"White House to be raised on stilts as Potomac rises - EPA employees required to wear blindfolds and waders"
She had a good run, a long life, if she chooses to go out this way then why not. Nothing is forever. La estúpida vaca.
Let go of it now and avoid pain. Remember her at her best. She will soon be a smear next to the Colorado River. Shame about the bike though....

Almost forgot to mention this:
SPLIT SECOND by Douglas Richards is FREE until the 24th
A really great technothriller by a bestselling author.
But what makes this special is ... you get to see when I am not hanging out on the beach or up in the smoking lounge I appear in small character roles in other people´s books :)
Yes ...see me fight off attackers and more ... and I won´t spoil the ending but ...I really am a sole survivor-
So all you folks who read books head over and download this one before the deadline!

Geez Sin, I hope Rump doesn't read your post and get any 'good' ideas. Too bad about the bike, but he won't be on it - he's got several body doubles ("Wigs on Wheels") to do that sort of thing. And yeah, a good time to be out - and stay out - of the uSa. And with his combustible Coronation upcoming, Rump would be wise to engage his old Gang to provide protection rather than rely upon any US Intelligence Services to watch his back...
