Put quito-airport-suites-hotel-tababela in a search.

I've stayed with these guys several times. They will send a taxi to pick
you up at the airport. I set it up by phone. . Last stay was two months ago. Went smooth for me.

Then take a taxi to the bus station in Carcelen. A town about six KM west
of the airport and Tababela

At the Carcelen bus station board a bus that goes to Otavalo.

Once you have arrived at the Otavalo bus station change buses to a bus marked "Cotacachi por la pana".

Thanks for the info on hotel and the bus system to Cotacachi. Any suggestions on lodging in Cota? I'm a world traveler and have very simple hotel needs. Other than preferring a private room and bath, I've had rooms that came with kerosene for lizards in India, and nets and wiring for rats in Nepal.

You should be pleasantly comfortable throughout of much of Ecuador.

Running water, flush toilets and wifi is the way most places run. Bring your sheets and towels and in some places in the Oriente your netting, and you pretty much have it made. More or less wifi in the Oriente you understand.
