I’ve read that Ecuador has some relatively toothy Laws as regards online Defamation (and Damages), and wonder what laws might be in place regarding online Bullying (and Damages) against individuals with a documented history of Bullying/Abuse, and whether a website which knowingly allows for a pattern of Abusive Bullying can be held accountable along with the individuals who practice such behavior?

Christo7 If you only knew how much it troubles me to think that you think I care. You are nothing more than a fictitious name that sticks its head up out of the USA and vicariously lives thru the posts of other fictitious names on a computer screen. Your name could just as easily be Hillbillary Clinton for all it matters. Now, let me give you some advice as I have done before. Get a life! If you want to try and live in Ecuador then quit BSing everyone and move here. I see you have been inquiring about moving to Colombia too. Maybe that would be a better fit. What is funny, we don't even know if you are male, female, or a really smart Cuy typing on its computer. It doesn't matter! You don't matter! I don't matter! None of us matter! If you want to try something different for a change, get a life!

Cristos, you don't live here so no laws here protect you in any way. Go away and cry somewhere else about your hurt feelings.

Oh by the way, the laws here are for defamation and libel. Know one on this forum has libeled you. Suck it up and be a big boy

To which I might add laws pertaining to online Stalking and Harassment... Look, I'm on this Forum to gather information and share what knowledge I can. I am sorry that I offended either of you, and I will make certain not to do so again, SO LONG AS I am not subject to any further attention by either WS or Rem. I DO NOT WANT any further responses from either of you to any questions I may have left to Post. Live and let live, eh? I get that this Forum is your turf and more important to you than it is to me, so how about we just agree to disagree, and leave it at that? Peace, C7

Cristos7, I didn't attack you, I responded to you and your allegations. I have always encouraged you to get off the couch and move here for an experience of a lifetime. Quit flipping it around and playing the victim. I agree to nothing. Peace!

You would have to show standing, jurisdiction and ripeness to file suit.
I can tell you that in regards to anything that has been published on this site in regards to your posts or posts in which you may be characterized, you would be found lacking in one, two or all three.
Your suit has no merit at this time and the obvious response, if you find yourself to be damaged by participating in this forum, is to cease participation knowing that to continue to do so creates a negative environment. To choose to continue to do so voluntarily admits your desire to continue with the relationship status as it exists.

Cristos, what you should tell everyone is that you are pissy because we call you on the fact that you don't live here. When you give advise it is usually wrong and stupid. You have trolled this site for many months without giving any useful advise and then you cry when we call you on it. Go away troll and let the folks who really want useful information to be able to read it. By the way , honestly: you want to use laws in Ecuador to protect your snivelin

Susan, thank you for what sounds like reasonable, if not universally applicable, legal advice. Your assumption that I was speaking on my behalf is only indirectly true, and I have no interest in litigation. However, I thought the answer to my questions would be worth the consideration of the Expat Exchange owners, who may or may not be in good hands if they have engaged your services as Council. That said, I wonder how accurate Windy's posted comments about *you* may be, (particularly as regards Privacy and the theft of Confidential Information for illegal purposes), and whether they fulfill the legal criteria you mention, either for the sake of your reputation or that of the Expat Exchange: >>>>> "About windshadow: Not tolerant of stupidity, jealousy and insanity, moderators, PC, censorship, or attempts by others to control. I am not open to any attempts to have others control my life, thoughts, or happiness. I am quick to call others to task for their prejudices. This site has a lower section that is "supposedly" free and open for comments. That is a f'ing lie. The moderator is too jealous of good, fun, comments to allow anything like that, unless, she thought of it first. Censorship at its worst. Advice for New Expats: Be aware your "Private Messages" on this forum are not "private"! The moderator reads every one and deletes the ones she doesn't like. Do not send confidential information on this site. It can be used by them. Your travel plans can be highjacked and compromised with this system. Forget your politics, quit complaining, learn Spanish, ditch the fake hair, and loose weight! When this fails... consider your options!" >>>>> I must applaud Misty for her warning, which prolly deserves up-front consideration by new members. (Perhaps some opening disclaimer about this being a Public Forum in which Privacy does not exist, anything goes, and enter at your own Risk?) seems fair since many Retirement age guests are not super web savvy and can be over-trusting when they find themselves in Welcoming and familiar surroundings. PS I'd also think that the Ecuadoran Ministry of Tourism would be somewhat disturbed to learn that this website might be guilty of what Misty accuses it of, which would mean the loss of what *should be* such a useful resource for Tourists interested in both visiting Ecuador for the first time, and perhaps investing in it as well. Many thanks again for your informative, fair-minded and ever-vigilant efforts to Moderate this Forum;)

@ OH re "To choose to continue to do so voluntarily admits your desire to continue with the relationship status as it exists." NO IT DOES NOT; as I have explicitly stated above I DO NOT WANT OR WELCOME any further responses to my posts by the two individuals mentioned therein. For them to directly contradict my clearly expressed wishes actually places the legal burden upon them to justify WHY they felt compelled to disregard my documented desire for them to 'Stay Away'. And any words from you which encourage them to disregard my expressed wishes makes you - and the EE - complicit in their questionable behavior. Perhaps you should examine the laws which are quickly forming in response to Online Bullying before throwing yourself into the fray?

Actually...
... you kind of blew it when you assumed the Moderator (that would be me) can read and delete your Private Messages.
Pretty much you labelled yourself as a paranid nut job at that point and any level of credibility flew out the window.
You sir, are a cuckoo!
And yeah, your continued participation in this forum pretty much tells us all that you want to be a part of this free for all and that would be your comittment to wanna play this game. That alone says a whole lot about you right there.
There is a word for folks who enjoy this sort of attnetion and being abused.
Have fun with him campers, he seems to like it.

And now Akabo appears in his place. Boy, couldn't figure that one out. Duh! This is getting so boring. How about someone that needs questions answered giving us a shout.
Yellow fever shots are not required last I checked. Probably a good idea if you are planning a trip to the Orient or continuing on to the Bahamas. (like on a cruise ship or other) I can explain if needed.

@OH - I don't care to return your kind words, but the words I quoted were cut and pasted directly from Windy's Profile...Your not-so-keen powers of observation and interpretive skills not-with-standing I have gotten what could be gotten from this Forum and do not care to participate any further for sport. Vaya Con Dios
