I received a notice from my internet provider, TVCable, that there is a break in the connection of an undersea cable between Ecuador and Panama. It says this is affecting the internet service for a majority of Ecuador.
My service here in Samborondon is painfully slow to non-existent at this time and it has been like this since about noon Saturday.
Anybody else here affected by this? Any news to add?

icemaster, Thanks for letting us know. I somehow either missed or didn't receive notice from TVCable about the cable break. I've been blaming the sloooow connection on Sat. and today, to my installing the latest Window 10 updates on Friday night !
My connection here in Machala is horrible at the moment on my laptop - ditto the tablet but a little better on the smart phone. At least, for a change, it isn't Windows fault.

I didn't get the message directly from TVCable either. My neighbor got it at around 1:30PM and sent it to me.
I wonder now if it's only TVCable or are other providers affected?

...Son, this ain't slow!
Slow was a dial up coupler modem and a TRS 80 with a 1200 baud connection...
...why I can tell you about those early days of CompuServe and the days of SciFi Sig... When I was a young thing with just a three digit suffix back in the mid 80's of the last century... Yes I knew DupaTParrot!

In Manta, we are being effected. Download speeds are strong, and the connection is constant, but a sustained burst is hurting. So streaming TV is brutal, but doing work, web surfing, or anything 'non-entertainment' related is working fine.

One of my step-sons works for TVCable here in Machala and said that the problem is "temporarily" solved ( whatever that means ). I did notice that everything was much faster and I was able to access everything rapidly this morning....so fingers crossed....

My internet with TVCable is working fine as of this morning. There is a story in El Telegrafo about it. http://www.eltelegrafo.com.ec/noticias/tecnologia/30/usuarios-se-quejan-por-fallas-en-servicio-de-internet-de-tvcable
Apparently, it did affect others providers like NetLife and CNT, but they were able to reconnect to alternate cables quickly, whereas TVCable took quite a while longer.

I'm now in Quito with TVCable, and download speed has again dropped to practically zero. All I can practically access, with patience, is text-rich sites like this one.
This problem first hit last Sunday, but recovered on Monday and was fine until this morning, around 0900.
Anyone else have this experience, or any sort of credible, informed notion of what's happening?
The timing is nearly the same as a week ago, and I wonder if it might be scheduled maintenance they couldn't get away with doing during the business week.

My TVCable has been operating normally here today in the Guayaquil area.

Strange.....about 1300 local things appeared to have cleared-up.
Maybe the guys down at TVCable are just calling it a short day.
