Incredible! Whats goin on down there? Remember I said before my banishment from the forum, that if Correa wasnt careful, people would forget all the good things he has done for Ecuador........It seems that it has actually come to that......what a pity really.... http://www.ecuadornoticias.com/2017/06/rafael-correa-fue-sacado-de-un.html

jimusarmy

You might not know this, but Correa is a communist and last time I checked communism has nothing good, he should no be allowed to go anywhere....best bet is for him to move to Cuba where he can be happy with the rest of the communist

Communist/socialist, learn the difference

kmoriarty45
  6/27/2017 16:45 EST

jimusarmy,
Either you've spent too much time sipping the Breitbart kool aid and have become a blithering idiot OR you simply are ignorant of the politics in Latin America generally, and Ecuador, specifically.

Dr. Correa is NOT a Communist. His socio/economic philosophy is Center-Left Socialist. There's a whopping big difference between a Communist and a Socialist, just as there is between a Fascist and a Capitalist !

Political ignorance aside, you obviously do know know your Ecuador history and what this country was like before Alianza Pais and Rafael Correa came to power. Like him or not, don't underestimate the excellent accomplishments by Rafael Correa during his 8 years in office.

Yes he was part of the rose revolution in South America that put many Socialist/Leftist parties running their countries. The difference with Correa and many of the others, was that Correa is an Economist and because of his education was able to keep our economy from tanking while instituting much needed social reforms - unlike Chavez and Maduro in Venezuela or the Kirchners in Argentina.

This is not a United States fiefdom, and if we choose to have a socialist leaning government, that's our choice. If we choose to accept aid and trade with China, that also is our business - not yours in the U.S. Ecuador will do what's right for Ecuador NOT what's right for Uncle Sam !

We all know that dumluk is a troll who doesn't even live in Ecuador and therefore don't any any attention to his meaningless drivel. Don't place yourself in his category.

An old fella goes to see his even older doctor one day. Doc Sawbones gives him a lookover.. ol Mr Duminski looks ok.. so, he sits down and opens his patient's file, saying "well, well.. we have the results of your tests in here. Let's see what your numbers say".

After getting the news from the doc, Mr D stands up and thanks him, saying now he had to go out to buy a new suit, - Sawbones asks D why he now needs a new suit?

D says, " Doc, if yo gonna be impotent, you gotta look impotent."

....but no, seriously DL, I haven't been online and had no idea you'd been "banished" lol.. we just stumbled back on here at the same time.

Kismet. ...or some sadistic version of it

If you're still in the USA valium is still readily availible. Take 4 and turn on Hannity

nah, Rem, the fish weren't biting for him

man, it was yesterday last year when I got back down to Cuenca - and it was hot here, so chiily there.

I'll take the chilly.. as, ..Los Estados son demasiado calientes para mí .

I'm bringing all my docs this time.. going ahead with the pensioner's and staying. Susan says a bunch may have changed again, so there is wading through all that again.

but yeah.. Mooot.. it takes more than that to start a fight in this bar. We're all pretty good and battle scarred already..

so if you're dealing with a group used to broken beer bottles, smashed barstools and the occasional airborne brick ---

...yeah well. " oh no - Trump is NO genius and blah blah about socialism and ur an idioron yadada"

ok you got your rise, happy birthday have fun with it

.. @ Susan. seriously girl - it's f##king hot and the outlook is not at all good.. unless you are an egg in need of cooking.

Is it cooling off in Montani yet?
Because cloudy cool and breezy sounds good. (not mowing the grass sounds good. a damn empanada sounds really good)

Moot says go back to where one came from? yeah. Well I did that last year, and just in time for the election in Nov - and this damned place has been absolutely nuts for an entire year. I mean, not just Trump and the nonstop, ulcer fired anxiety attack that provides daily - but the damn violent crime, daily shootouts, break-ins and just plain insane murders and rapings.. Charlotte broke 50 murders already this year just in town.

"...go back to where you(we) came from.. " lol
it's more like, not being able to get away from it quickly enough, if you ask me

you didn't but there it is

and why do I never get any email notifications from here any more..?

is it just me? ...it could be. my wonderful phone once again "ordered" me to use an app. To get any Hotmail, I have to use the Outlook app.. and it's all over the place. The main site too, on the computer.

I had an Inbox.
Now they've split it into "focused" and "other" and yea.. I do know that I have drifted off onto just being pissed about my email server.. but still.

is everyone still getting notifications correctly?

San Francisco... yeah. the Rice a Roni treat. or it was the other way around.

anyway somebody had a treat.. or some rice, hell it's an old commercial

anyway, yeah I was checking the notify thingy.. (thingy? ..is that the official terminology? ..oy vay ). I didn't last post, I will on this one. It hasn't mattered though

If the site accidentally got labeled spam, I haven't been able to find anything in the junk folder

Bob, check your attitude at the door. If capitalism is so great why did you leave the good old USA. Seems like all systems have there problems. Why don't you come on down here and we can study the Koran together. Time for you to move back to the USA, 36% will love your racist crap

I actually kind of liked Correa.A little full of himself, but didn't let what happened in Venezuela happen there.

Hell, in Venezuela they're not eating pet food. They're eating their pets :-()

remoore2001

The two countries were both called socialist states, but the gov'ts of both is very different.
Also the currency in Ecuador is the dollar, so wild fluctuations are very unlikely

DDR
  7/21/2017 11:42 EST

Under Bush the US$ lost over half it's value and stayed low under Obama. The US had to buy upto 70% of their own bonds at one point.I call it the Warren Buffet bailout : ) They bailed out the uber wealthy. Also incompetent jews of the federal reserve got it where it's at.

The only reason the US isn't in a full blown depression is fracking.Keeping oil under $100 bl.

Not Netflix or facebook or Google.

For a restaurant owner to eject the former President from his business is a sublime act of freedom and democracy, worthy of a movie. That is what America was two hundred years ago. But...“I dreamed I saw the Statue of Liberty slowly sailing out to sea...oh, well, I guess no one can remain forever free!”--Paul Simon.

remoore2001
  7/21/2017 15:06 EST

Oh yes through my 8+ yrs here the USD has been on the edge of collapse, It was no longer going to be the worlds currency, buy metals such as gold. The yaun was about to take over from the dollar, Brazil and Russia and the oil producing countries were going to quit accepting dollars for payment etc etc etc.
You get my drift DDR. Chicken little couldn't say it better than the dollar is going to collapse crowd. Meanwhile we here in Ecuador are really happy with keeping the dollar, especially when we look around us and see whats happening around SA

I look at the sky every day and guess what? It still ain't falling

kmoriarty45
  7/21/2017 16:37 EST

Excellent point remoore2001.

In my not-so-humble opinion, one of the major contributing factors to Ecuador's relative stability when the petroleum industry tanked, was our attachment to the Yankee dollar.

Even our horrendous earthquake's drain on the Ecuador treasury and subsequent cause for a tax raise, didn't force us into runaway inflation, and massive loan defaults.

Creditors are a lot more willing to engage in dialogue when the economy is in dollars not in some scrip than will decrease in value overnight.

The sky looks pretty good from my vantage point.

Absolutely no reason or purpose to prove you wrong or support you for being right.

But I do want to take a moment to shine a bright light on you and show folks that here is just what I was writing about on another thread: one of a typical "type" of expat ...in this case a wanna-be as he thankfully does not live in Ecuador.

Just a reminder, all expats are not alike. They are as different on the spectrum of people as are folks on the internet.

Something to keep in mind when making your plans wherever you wind up landing.

My point is those in control positions of the FR are jewish, that isn't a "racist" statement, just facts. No different than saying incompetent japs build faulty airbags. As a matter of fact if I was jewish I'd be more pissed off at them.
The terrible thing is they're doing the same thing expecting different results.

From about 2004 the US$ has tanked. What about that don't you understand?

Moderator note:

This sort of post also gives me the opportunity to highlight why we maintain 2 sections for the Ecuador forum.

Different folks have vehemently different beliefs.

Civilized individuals learn how to recognize those with whom they can communicate on an intellectual level and the others with whom communication needs to be kept on a more basic framework.

And others with whom communication is entirely impossible.

Again, all sorts and types are encompassed amongst the expat community.

Susan

DDR

It seems there was a split on topic when Remoore went into a diatribe about the US$ "stabilility".And Ec's ties to it Vs other SA currencies going south faster.

Where I pointed out the FR policy of dealing w/ too much debt was creating more debt. Now how the heck does that make any sense?

Oh,
When the originator of fracking started out "they" said "couldn't be done" had to hire rouge petro eng.
That's why it's the highest paid college degree out of school.

And don't get me started on yenta Yellen.Would you hire her to work at a dime store?Geithner was head of the NY FR at the time of the melt down.Controls most of the FR$ system the NY fed does.Don't get me started on Bubbles Greespan or Bernanke.

The coming bubble will make 2008 look like a walk in the park.Due to poor FR management skills.

I know this isn't a economic forum and it's obvious from the lack of understanding shown here.Light weights. :-)

It's not a rag on the jews session.
Dudley the new NY FR co-chair is about as stupid as the rest.

Geez, talk about chips on shoulders.
