SuKasa in the same shopping mall as SuperMaxi Americas has a very nice selection but their products are higher end in general therefore more expensive. But their cookware will probably last forever! Use your SuperMaxi card there to get a small discount. Both stores are owned by the same company.

Coral Centro on Aveneda America. On the first floor at the base of the escalator. I actually found a cast iron skillet there. I use it every day.

SuKasa has better quality things...and some of the harder to find items would possibly be there...but the big Coral at Mall de Rio has many kitchen small appliances, (even the smaller ones have a few usually) Also there's a "kitchen store" next door to San Blas church in El Centro that has imported high end cutlery, pans, appliances... there are actually a number of smaller stores in El Centro that have stuff, but it's kind of a "peek in each shop that looks possible" thing sometimes :)

That reminds me - there is another large Restaurant Supply store that may be worth a stop - in the SuperMaxi Americas Neighborhood - Go up Americas from SuperMaxi - On the opposite side of Americas - turn right on Mariscal Lamar - and within about 50 yards look on the first floor of a large condo or business building on the right side of the street. You'll see they have a large glass front with all kinds of cooking equipment in the window on display including many smallwares.

Do you folks have Omnisariato in Cuenca?
Here on the coast it is the ubiquitous Western Union, hardware, houseware store. In Manglaralto it's basically a cinderblock warehouse. But it's where you can often find small domestic appliances at reasonable cost. Just got a decent blender for $53.
Look in some of your small corner stores and tiendas, especially high shelves, and you can often find treasures.

This week in Olon we have a cookware and houseware supplies truck that parked in front of the Casa Communal (the local city hall) and has been selling cookware, housewares, cutlery and dishes, plastics and more from under a tent.
My big buy was a huge teakettle for $10 ...
They also had small electronics like blenders and sandwich toasters and irons.
