" I have been to Dubai in the UAE before, where the western expats and tourists are allowed to dress fairly liberal - within bounds. I am marrying an Egyptian, but has never been there before. I am not converting to Islam, so their dress code wont be enforced on me. He is happy with the way I dress now as long as I (to use his words) ""not put myself on show in public"". Any advice on what the dress code is for westerners? "

" Hi Annie; I''ve been to Egypt a couple of times and may be moving out there for a bit for work so I thought I would give you my take on dress code. I don;t agree completely with the other respondee but he''s close. Since you are not going to be actually living in Egypt but rather marrying an Egyptian you shouldn;t have anything to worry about. When I am there I find it best to follow a few standards. Tourists generally ware whatever they want but its best to keep skirts below the knees and neckline above the cleavage point. Sleeveless shirts are also frowned apon, keep your shoulders covered. When in doubt, err on the side of conservatism. Good luck. "
