I have been married to my Egyptian husband for over a year, we have a baby girl (3 month). Now we living in UAE, my husband got an opportunity in Egypt (Cairo) and we need to move there. To be honest I a little nervous regarding this changes.
I worry that my daughter will not use english( like it here in UAE) and what about education in general. I wondering to know can we find there an international nursery or kinder garden. And is it safety life for an international family there and mostly for the baby?

If you have money and a good job - no problem - you can find everything you need and want in Cairo - good International Schools costing between 8K and 20K a year USD (check out CAC, AIS and MES) - perhaps there are some you would consider adequate for less. Your daughter can use English to speak to you, if you insist she uses it. That is sort of up to you. In Egypt she will use both I would think. I have known multi cultural marriages that make that rule with the kids - you talk to mom in her language and you talk to dad in his language. It's the best for the kids to know both. That way if YOU don't learn your Arabic well, dad and she can keep secrets from you though too. LOL Better learn your Arabic well. ;)

Unless you choose to live in the middle of a hot zone (ie Tahrir Sq or around down town, or next to the Rabaa Adeweyia) you will be fine. Like I said before, if you have money and can live in one of the new areas, like New Cairo or 6 October, you may feel you are in the UAE. It's desert out there and everything is pretty new.

If you do need to live inside the city, areas such as Maadi, Heliopolis, or Zamalek are all nice and you will find other foreigners living near you - ESPECIALLY in Maadi.

Welcome to Egypt.
