Hello,
I have recently moved to Egypt but I have faced constant harassment from male taxi drivers :s
Does anyone know if there are any female drivers that I could contact instead ?
thank you in advance!

I have seen only once a female cab driver, and she wasn't actually a driver, she was just driving the car to run some errands.
I think you should try private taxi companies. They are more expensive but a lot safer as you get to know the driver's name and you can report him easily to the company. Use "London Cab Egypt", their number is 19670. But i think you will need to book some 2 hours before your trip.
You call them and check everything out.. :)
Have safe trips...
I sometimes provide random pickups for elderly strangers and sometimes ladies on the street. I hope more young egyptian people would do that more often...

Sorry to hear that you had bad experiences with them.
I also highly recommend other transportation companies.
Uber is working normally at Cairo. and it should be decent.
EasyTaxi should (mobile app) should get you access to taxi rides where u can report any such violations
Things are different if you are in other cities
Female taxi drivers are not expected to be found in Egypt, at least in the upcoming few years

I would think enterprising Egyptian ladies could make a lot of money as cab drivers and tour guides. Foreign women would pay 2-3 times the going rate to get a female driver who they know won't harass them. The perception is also that a woman is also less likely to cheat you.

It's being done. Google something like pink taxis in Cairo and you should come up with a couple of stories on this new company.
My problem with it (and I've lived here 17+ years and ridden with several of my Egyptian female friends in their cars) is women drivers here are, overall, terrible drivers. No offense Egyptian ladies, but you are just bad drivers. I have a number of theories why they are bad drivers, but won't go into that now. And, yes, many of the men are terrible too, but I still feel safer with the man on the streets.
As far as women guides go, they are easy to get. I have several gals on call to guide you through Cairo. All you have to do is ask for your guide to be a woman. Often I will ask my clients, when I know they are single women or a group of gals if they prefer a female guide. It makes sense.

Magnum....are you serious? Elderly people and ladies will get in your car when you stop and offer them a ride? Do you travel with a Halo over your head or are these people unfamiliar with the phrase "never take rides with strangers"? I live in Madinaty now and most often walk with a cane and ride the Madinaty bus. While waiting for the bus, on occasion I will have a car stop and offer me a ride. I'm 90% sure it's out of kindness they are offering, but still won't accept except under special or unusual circumstances.
