Originally met in sharm some years ago then travelled to and from cairo before finally agreeing to move permanent to cairo in 2012.
He and his family appeared genuine and only after he had secured all the money i had from sale of my house and a private pension did things begin to change.
In 2014 not long after he married me he secretly made plans to bring his 17 year old cousin from germany to marry her also only informing me of the truth just 2 weeks before the big luxury wedding that was clearly funded by yours truly. I cannot return to uk now because i have no place to live and it is unlikely i will find work because of my age. Even after he took millions of egyptian pounds off me he is still demanding more. I feel completely shattered and my health is beginning to be affected. He has been physically and emotionally abusive to me and thinks this is normal. I have contacted my embassy but all they could give me was list of lawyers which clearly i do not have the money to go to.

Can't you relocate to somewhere cheaper in the UK so that your pension would cover the rent?

I read your post! Are you ok? Please try and get out of Cairo. Surely you have friends and family in the UK. No one would want you to live like this. Thinking of you x

Please let.us know you are ok. There may be british expats who can help. Do you have enough money to get home? I know you are devastated but you.must get to safety. Then you can plan a new life somewhere else. You are beaten down from his abuse and betrayal and anyone would be. It is not too late for you to start a new life.

Have you tried contacting the Embassy? Not sure if British Embassy does this but I know that American Embassy will pay for your ticket home and eventually you have to pay it back in payments.
It is a thought?
What about the church? Sometimes they help those to stay in convent until they are back on their feet again.
Do you know anyone from back home that can help you stay at a church until you are back on your feet again?
Am sorry to hear what your going through..to bad you can not get a good honest lawyer to have him repaid you back.
Do wish that all is in your favor and that your life gets better soon. Gods Willing

christineelde - Where in the world did you get the idea the American Embassy will pay for a ticket home for women in this sort of a situation? I would like some real information about who to talk to at the Embassy for this service. I understand you are saying it's a loan, but I don't even think that is right. The only situation under which something like this was done, that I'm aware of, was during the Revolution of Jan 2011 and even then, NOT everyone was included.

CasualCairo, How I got this information I called them when I was in a situation 4 years ago . They offer this for me to pay for my airfare but is loan that I had to pay back.
My life was in danger at that time , since I put a man in prison for what he did to me. The whole community was in uproar when I did this . It was not safe for me to live in that community and was told by Embassy , to get Out !! Which I did .
Yes , they do offer this for American Citizens just that not many Americans are aware of this .

Hurtful and inappropriate comments do not help anyone. All they do is breed even greater mistrust, pain and sorrow for all concerned. As my gorgeous grand mother said 'Don't say anything about anyone that you would not want said about yourself'
