Dentists

I plan on moving to Egypt after graduating from an American dental school.

Questions:
-from your point of you what kind of lives/working conditions do the dentists over at Egypt experience?

-Do you think a foreign dentist would be welcome there?

-what would they think about female dentists?

If you have any information relating to this topic please add a reply. Thanks in advance!

Hello Spark,
I personally think its on of the top jobs these days in Egypt with the booming beauty centers and specially dental beauty works.
Being an expat will mean that you have received your education from a good Uni. Then means more credibility in what you do , then your last point with being a woman in that type of work I think the Dr.S' type of job does not have this kind of discrimination between men and women, I closely work with lots of clinics and I meet lots with Doctors as of my job in the medical IT systems, and the percentage of meeting Doctor women is large to men some times. Hope this has helped you :)

spark323 - are you Egyptian or Arab? Can you speak Arabic or are you planning on only working with expat English speaking clients?

In general dentists in Cairo (and I assume other cities of any size) are still very inexpensive. VERY INEXPENSIVE! There are some more expensive dentists in the Maadi or Zamalek areas where the more wealthy or expats live and they have customers I suppose as I see their advertisements. After living here 17 years, I have found a good dentist in my area that is reasonably priced so I'll never go to the expensive ones. I assume nervous Embassy employees go to those dentists and people that think the more you pay the better it is.

I have a friend that is an American woman that recently moved back to Texas after living here for years, working as a dental hygienist for some Cairo dentists. She actually worked for the dentist I go to when I first started going there. She would probably be a good contact for you to talk to. If you are interested, send me your Facebook contact info and I'll ask her if it's OK. You can send the info to CasualCairo@aol.com

if you are interested to work in Egypt as a dentist then contact hospitals that you might be working for , don`t try to open your own clinic because it won`t work . and make sure that the hospital would rent an apartment for you in a good place preferably close to work
