Possible to date an Egyptian girl?

I'm a college student here in the United States, graduating soon. Several months ago at work I met an Egyptian girl, also a college student. The two of us get along amazingly well, great chemistry, she's a beautiful person with a great personality and so humble.

Its funny I work with so many Egyptians that initially many of them thought I was Egyptian when they first started working with me.

Anyway, a few days ago I made the decision of asking her to go out, I wanted to take her to a museum, see all the tourist attractions, etc. She then told me her parents would never allow it, she was fairly upset about it. This surprised me, but didn't shock me being that she still lives with her parents and they've been here for less than a year, we are both Christian but the different cultures were bound to conflict eventually.

It honestly just makes me sad that I'd only be able to talk to her during work. It's too bad how different cultures can make things so complicated.

Is it possible to ever date her or take her out? Is that allowed in Egypt? Should I forget about her and move on as much as I'd hate to?

Are your ages appropriate for each other? If so, I say there is hope.

My best suggestion is to find out what church she is going to and go there a couple of times. I think this will catch her parents attention in a good way. Coptic girls (that I know) generally end up marrying (don't freak out yet) guys they know from church or related activities.

Depending on how conservative the parents are, you might need to plan outtings with her that include either others in her family (sisters/brothers or even parents) or a group from the church. Think dating in 1943 America when planning this.

It might be fun. If she does go to a Coptic church in the states and you go, hopefully you would meet other couples your age that have been in America longer and can give you practical advice.

Well its nice to know there might be some hope. I really appreciate the help, I don't know much about the culture in Egypt, about what is acceptable, etc.

I'm a very respectful person so I'll take this slow, a step at a time and hopefully something positive results in the end.

Thanks.

Hello, i'm egyptian christian male. I totaly agree with casualcairo and girls here in egypt would date you in groups or with other couples at first until they feel comfortable to you and after while she can date you if only they felt you're wanna go in a serious relationship, which means here in Egypt that you're gonna marry her. :)
