Try here for general info: http://www.wtf-elsalvador.com/visas
Its most like that a new government comes into power in June or July, which will most likely change all of the current procedures. I know there is a visa you can apply for as a wife of an ES citizen, but I don't have all the details on it. The immigration office you need to go to is near Manual Araujo street on Avenida Olimpica. It's specifically for foreigners. The one downtown is for Salvadorans, and you can go there but it's usually busier.

I found this other site from the gob. and looks like once in El SAL.

You can go to the office a request an extension for a year visa, sort of like; we were in the plans in some future to live in El SAL. but we have changed our mind. Yes, I am Salvadorean, husband USA. If you happen to know of somebody, from Salvadorenos en El mundo...if they got the voto for exterior, why not for them to campaign for those Spouses of ours, and make it easier when they one to stay longer in El Sal. Good Luck! Rx.
