For one of the best check out the ILB botique hotel in Escalon. For nice but less expensive Villa Angel and for nice in B&B type Posada del Angel. I have had clients in all and all were very happy.
Enjoy El Salvador

For low budget through to upscale travelers I would like to add the Hostel and Hotel "Hostal Cumbres del Volcan" owned and operated by a US Citizen, married to A native of El Salvador, who converted two of his suites to 'backpacker dorms', has private rooms as well, safekeeping for valuables, friendly bi lingual family atmosphere and transportation, personalized tours and transfers to International Bus Stations, as well they have a Taxi that gives guests a discount to and from Airport, safest area in the city, finally I learned that the Owner gave his employees profit sharing incentive, rare in Central America! We did it in the 1990s in Guatemala and we became the famous little Budget Hotel "For the Budget Traveler with Champagne Taste", I love innovation, the 4 and 5 Star Hotels in San Salvador, in general have no tour and travel available for those who do not speak Spanish, only tour operators that overcharge, many provide only an a/c vehicle and a driver who may speak 100 words of English for $60 pr more per person, as well there is another fine Hostel on the other end of town that features it's guests on it's Facebook Page! 15 Minutes of Fame in El Salvador and some great bargains down on El Salvador's Pristine Pacific Beaches!!! PM me for more information and also join my non profit Central America Travel/Tour Information Group on Facebook, open and bi lingual English & Spanish, "know before you go" http://www.facebook.com/groups/discovercentralamerica (El Salvador has many small tour operators who offer wonderful and unique adventure, eco and cultural tours for a third or less you would pay in Costa Rica. Check. Most who visit El Salvador return. PM for more specific information.
