Simple Banking Question

I am a United States citizen who will be moving to El Salvador to marry next month. If I give a personal check to my (El Salvadorian) bride, will her (El Salvadorian) bank hold this check for a standard period of time before the funds can be withdrawn?
For example: Here in Ecuador the banks hold out-of-country checks for a minimum of 20 days, regardless of when the funds are verified to be available in my U.S. account.

Yes They will hold the funds. Banks vary, but it can be up to 30 days. This has been my experience
