hi,
I am planning on moving to fiji in 3 months I have travelled to fiji over the last 3 years and and made really good friends, i have managed to learn some of the language and am very comfortable with the culture and lifestyle. I already have a place to stay, but at the moment my only dilemma is finding a job, I am a painter by trade within the construction industry, does anyone have suggestions in finding a job suitable for expats. I will welcome any kind of information that will help me secure my move to fiji....Help

Seems like a lot of folks are looking to do this. I urge you to make sure you're up to date on current events there. Since a coup in Dec 2006, the country has been run by a Military-led interim government. Expatriates are coming under more scrutiny as several have been forcefully removed from the country. The economy is starting to tank due to the stresses from reductions in tourists dollars.

As for getting a work permit, that almost always requires employment arranged in advance with the employer putting up a bond. If you have qualifications, check out some NGOs or even the University of the South Pacific. But I wouldn't go with much hope to get a work permit after moving there... unless you have friends there you can work for under the table.
