Hiya...I am a Kiwi who suffer's from Rheumatoid Arthritis. I have just returned from 2wks in Fiji and like when I visited Rarotonga, after only a couple of hours after arriving all my symptoms disappeared! and remained pain free. My condition is normally chronic, a day to day struggle. As you can imagine I need to find out how to move there permanantly. I have fallen in love with Fiji and the Fijian's. Pease has anyone got any ideas how I can make the move and survive...thanks

Wow, I had a similar situation happen to me, not your condition but my body LOVED fiji, we ate a great diet, my nail and hair grew soooo much in the 2 weeks we were there. That was my second trip to fiji. I think I could live there. What is keeping you from moving to Fiji? Barbara

Hiya Barbara...thanks for your reply :). As I have had to survive on an invalids benefit due to not being well enough to work I am unable to just make the move without a job prospect. I know I will be able to hold down a full-time job over there and that is so exciting! I'm not fussy what job, just need enough income to survive so I can live pain-free.

Donna, From my understanding it is hard to find a job unless you have something lined up. Interesting though, my daughter will be heading from a US college to NZ in about 3 years, I told her I woul dmost likely stay in Fiji while she is studying abroad. She has been to NZ twice and really likes it there. Fiji is way too hot for her, I have been to NZ three times and love it there too.BUT I am going with what my body is telling me, I guess time will tell. Please keep us updated:)

What sort of work are you happy to do? There's plenty of skilled work available but you need to be in the local scene I can give you some people to talk to but better to sort it out once you are here to be honest.

I am a tenured professor with doctorates in a needed area that came to help. I am retiring at the end of this job. Nothing could keep me here after that. Students are great but---

As I have been battling with my health for the past 30 yrs I hve only managed to work in receptionist positions. But I am not at all fussy as to what I end up doing as long as I can survive. The most important thing to me isto live in that climate pain-free

Nothing could keep you here- as in the states? I work for a state agency and can retire at 55. I am just unsure of how much $ per month would be needed as Fiji is pretty low key and I definatley do not require a big city life,

Donna, isn't it amazing! If our bodies could talk they would say..."see I told you so" There are a few spots I may check out when I am in Fiji. Since Suva sounds like quite the armpit, AND Koro island attracts the expats, maybe somewhere in between.? I believe my daughter will attend school in Hamelton. And a good friend of mine lives in Palmerston N. We met when I was in college back in the 80's so that is why I have been to NZ three times. I hope this pans out for you Donna! Barbara

Hiya Barbara...I was staying with a friend in Denarau when I was there so will base myself there when I do make the big move. I did quite like Latoka area. All depends where I can find work though. Take care, Donna

Hi we just bought a great house in Pacific Harbour. Its a bit like a wealthy American suburb but its in a great location on the Coral Coast and is safe and friendly. My sister has bought the block over the road (she works at the International School in SUVA approx one hour drive) We cant live there yet and will just visit Fiji regularly for the next few years. Its early days but so far we have no regrets and although Pacific Harbour has some 'odd' elements we have still made local Fijian and Expat friends and feel that Fijian Culture is evedent. I love to fish and the estuary and Beqa Bay offer great fishing. Good Luck! Lisa
