" I have been searching around the Finnish sites for some salary information. However, what I have found is that salaries seem quite low, even compared to the rest of Europe which I am quite familiar with. What would be considered an excellent salary in Helsinki? Is 240000 marakka ok? "

the 24 000 old finnish markkaa a month is excellent salary here. Most common is around 2000 euros and yes we got one of the lowest salary rates overall in all europe (sadly). Goverment and and municipal salaries are the lowest ones here so you'd want to get employed in the private sector.
