Hi guys! Do you know where I can find some information about driving fines in Finland (for non-resident; I know that for residents they could be based on income)?
In particular, what are the fines for driving without liability insurance.
Thanks in advance.

Finland is a signatory of the Geneva Convention, so the driving laws are base on the international standard. The Taima Sign (city limit sign) is often posted instead of the speed limit. The Taima speed is 50 kph.
If you google, you will find lots of information about driving in Finland. You can also contact Traffi or your local driving school for a brochure.

If you are a non-resident, you can use an international drivers license or your own driver license if the country is a signatory of the EU convention. You can use it for one year. You must have basic liability insurance to drive in Finland. If you don't have it, the police can arrest you, impound your car, and the fine is very expensive. If you travel in Finland, contact your local travel agency for liability or get a policy from the car rental company if you plan to rent a car.

By the way, fines are based on your income, whether you are a resident of Finland or not.
