" Hi Gail, Spoke to my friend whose husband works at CDG. He appartently takes the public transport and it takes him about 1 hour to 1 hour 15 to get to work. Le Bourget is a little closer, but I''m not sure where your husband will be in regards to the station. My friend lives on RER line C so her husband takes that to St. Michel and changes to line B. Sorry I don''t have more car specific information for you. Diana "

" Thanks for checking with your friend. I am going to assume that if it were much quicker that he would drive to work so he must use the RER because it is better. We have received potential bad news this week. All transfers are to be considered only under very special request. Evidently the US is possibly facing some sort of economic slow down or even recession. Aviation is usually one of the first to be affected. My husband has a very efficient supervisor who still may be able to work it out but our hopes are not very high. We are going to offer to move as Europeans and not expats, which may help. That would put us out east in public or very economical private French schools. No English or Spanish. I am not complaining because it still would be better for us all than where we are now. We will have to just wait and see. "

" Hi Gail, Oh no! I will still keep my fingers crossed for you. But I just wanted to add one more thing about the schools. If you are considering French schools, it is possible to find some that are not horribly expensive. Most catholic schools, for example, are still subsidized by the government and they are rarely very religious. There are even a couple of bilingual schools that are subsidized. Otherwise, I think the French schools are very good. How old are your children again? Most of the bilingual schools are English/French. There is also a PUBLIC middle/high school with a Spanish section in the north of Paris, but I think that starts around 6th grade. Still if your children are young and you plan on staying awhile, you can put them in a French school to adjust to the language and plan on putting them there when they are old enough. AND that neighborhood is a lot closer to where your husband will be working. Something to consider. Please keep in touch with updates! Diana "

" Thanks for the encouragement. We have heard from my husband''s boss that we should not give up and that he is exploring all options. We have offered to go with reduced benefits temporarily. I have landed on what may be the answer for us. On the east side, starting at Lagny and out are quite a few English speaking moms. They have a group called Entre Amis. There is a school primary to high school they recommend in Meaux. They have parties all the time and get the kids together for friendships in English. There are some that are expats but most are not. Many have French husbands. It is my type of group because they are more permanent. The school is only 200 dollars a month, with English from junior high and Spanish. It is sous contrat. Our oldest, 12, will first learn French as a foreigner and then slowly integrate. She will be put with her level in English and hopefully the same in Spanish. Sounds good, right? And only 30 minutes from work. It is looking better and so far the fat lady has not sung. We continue to hope. And the rent is much better. We can always go to the 16th and have free school but the rent is the problem, if we wind up going on reduced benefits. The high rent is 15,000 and goes down. Some houses are only 8,000 or 9,000. Eh, alors.... "
