I do not know your city but I understand the feeling. I'm Venezuelan and I also had to adapt here. I work now as a career transition and cultural adaptation coach and as a professional I can tell you a few things that can make your adaptation process easier:
1. Try to reconnect with your values: think about the things that are important for you, the activities you like to do and start doing them. This way you will start connecting with other people.
2. Try to focus on the good things and be grateful: Sometimes we focus too much on what we do not have and we forget to be thankful for what we do have :) I know it seems simple but if you make a list of the things you are grateful for, you will feel better.
3. Participate at events of Internations or meetup.com, I'm sure you will find many activities that suit you and will help you adapt easier.
