I am moving from the US next year, probably to France but maybe the Netherlands. I'm seeking a support group I can contact "now" and then quickly upon arrival - English speaking. - someone who can answer basic questions and help me settle in. I'm a retired professional and live alone (no family). Thank you.

If you end up in France look and see if there is an AVF, (Accueil des Villes Françaises) in your city. Their express purpose is to welcome new arrivals. In Lyon there is one specifically for newly arrived foreigner coming to Lyon.

If you're on Facebook, join groups like:
Americans in France and Survive France. People post answers right away. Depending on the region, there are other groups, for example we have English Speakers in the Midi-Pyrenees on FB here.
