Retiree 1st Yr. Travel/Medical Insurance

Does anyone have experience with the Allianz Travel Insurance? I want to use it to fulfill the medical insurance requirement for a Long Term Visa. It's ridiculously cheap at $300 (that's hundred) for $50K emergency medical coverage for one year.
Our appointment at the consulate is the first week of August. I don't want to be rejected for LTV because of incorrect coverage.
Does anyone have any experience with this company?
Thanks,
Charles

I bought this insurance a few months ago - $41/year (!). I thought it might be too good to be true but they emailed me the letter for the consulate and I got my 1-year visa with no problem.

The trick is to call them instead of doing it online, and tell them you do not want the insurance to cover flight/cruise cancellation. That's what drives the price up.

I'm 53, so perhaps my age also is the reason that it's so cheap. Anyway, I hope this helps!

Diane

Diane, the op is planning for a long term visa to live in France. Will this insurance be acceptable to re-new for a second year long term?
I undersatnd after three months of legal residence one is able to apply for national insurance, which means one won't be declined for pre-exisiting and age.

Allianz did not pay our claim for a trip cancellation.

Your needs sound different but try GENERALI Travel Insurance (www.generalitravelinsurance.com) because they are a global network /strong in Europe with 400,000 medical facilities around the world.

I would call GENERALI if you only want specific coverages. They have a post departure plan (no trip cancellation coverages) which makes it alot cheaper but I dont see it on the website.

Ah, I see - I'm not sure. I do hope to renew it next spring when I go again for another 1-year visa (I only go to France 4-5 months a year).
