" My live-in boyfriend is considering transfering through his company to Germany for 2 years. I, of course want to go with him, but since we are not married I am not sure what type of Visa I would need. I would be dependant on his income. If I leave the country before the 90 day time period and return do I need a Visa? Although this would start to be a pain to do for two years. Any advice would be helpful, I am having a hard time finding information. "

" You can''t just slip over to Switzerland for a day and get back in on the Visa Waiver program, I think you then have to stay out for 90 days before returning. Even though there tends to be lax passport control in some places, you have to register in Germany and they will deport you if you get caught living there illegally - just like the US. But you should check with the German Embassy - you might qualify as like a spouse or finance if you have been living common law for enough time. Otherwise, you have to apply for a visa yourself and unless you have a job offer and decent qualifications like a degree and IT experience it could be difficult. Or you could apply for a job at a military base if it is near your boyfirend''s company. Make sure you do this from the States because once you get here the military will treat you like a local national which means you need a visa. Check out http://www.chrma.hqusareur.army.mil/ Although civilian jobs at the military are low paying you get special benefits like US gas prices, US supermarkets etc and you won''t need a visa. - Rhody - "

I have so many questions regarding a visa, driver''s license, work permit, etc. I would greatly appreciate it if you would email me back at your convenience at karatenge@hotmail.com with any information you may have discovered. Thank you very much.... Sincerely, Kara "
