My husband is a Greek engineer, now a USA citizen for the past 12 years..he also is a Greek citizen. Now that our kids are heading to university we are very interested in relocating to Greece. My husband goes back once a year to Athens to visit his family and friends. I have also been several times.
We are exploring the possibility of moving to Greece..he would do consulting and I am interested in opening a small gallery on one of the Soronic Gulf islands, maybe Hydra or Speces. I would count on the tourists (American and British) to be the main buyers of my art.
I plan on returning to the USA every October for a month to do shows in Texas and bring art to the 5 galleries in the USA that carry my art-work.
I do not speak a word of Greek (my husband has tried to teach me for years) and find their alphabet to be incomprehensible.... although I had no problem getting around Greece when I visited but wonder if having a small business would be a problem. I am also wondering if having a Greek husband would make it easier to open a business. We are also considering Crete, my husbands family is originally from there are he has a small plot of land that he inherited.
