Some time in early December, my husband and I will be picking up our DPI cards. We will then have to go to Migracion to have our passports stamped. Can anyone tell me how long Migracion will hold on to our passports? Same day, a week? Has anyone had recent experience with this?

Hi Migracion is pretty organized lately. If you go with your own car I park in the parking of the hotel Conquistador which is on the same street but 2 blocks before on Ruta 4 when you drive up 7th avenue turn right on Ruta 4 and the hotel is on the corner and the parking on the Ruta 115 yard from Migration Office. When you come into the buiding you have a check point with a police officer some times they ask for an ID some times no.. You tell them you are going to Extranjeria it is on the 2d floor.. take the stairs to your right and when you arrive to the 2d floor there is a big room, go to information and do the line the person will ask you what you want and don't worry if you don't speak english they have people who speak perfect english.. and then they will give you a number , wait until your number is called on a TV screen.. they call you but it is hard to ear and if you don't speak Spanish it is even harder.. Now your passport might be hold for a week but it doesn't matter because you have your DPI which is what you have to present in case of control...
