That price is rediculious. Unfortunately I can't offer advice on a vet unless its to SPAY HER. We work hard to get puppies off the street while others seem intent on adding more to the street.

I'm sure these dogs will be sold to the locals and I'm also sure they will end up on the street.

Please, after this round of puppies, consider spaying her and if its for profit, I beg you to consider another line of work.

If I'm wrong about you selling them I apologize, but this country doesn't need anymore dogs, there are over 330 dogs in Antigua shelters alone. Most towns poison or just flat out shoot dogs twice a year here, stop making more please!

If that's what you "paid in the US" then it's NOT "crazy" merely the going rate.

Other cheaper choice would be a bullet in the head, end of problem forever.

That's definitely not the going rate down here. Should be able to get it done for around 1000q.

Busman, a bullet would solve all your issues as well, maybe look into it?

If you can't find anyone in the City, then I would seriously consider going to Antigua where there is great, very well established and respected clinic: Clinica Veterinaria El Arca: 7832 0245. 2 great vets, Cynthia & Hugo.

Vet Pro in Antigua is good also. Speaks English and has a lot of expat clients.

This is a third world country there are woman here dying every day from child birth because their families cannot afford the medicines for a c-section. I am shocked you found any vet in this country that would consider doing it for any price. You sound like the American who lives next door here in Antigua who has a local cooking beef and chicken to make special dog food for her ankle biters completely oblivious to the fact that the worker can only afford to feed beans and rice to his own children. There are reasons why Americans are not though very highly of.

I'm sure they appreciate you referring to them as third rate. That term was abolished years ago in favor of Developing Country for a good reason.

People aren't necessarily dying because they can't afford it, rather because its against their religion and simply not "allowed", same as contraceptives.

The dog food available here is just garbage, nothing wrong with feeding your dog proper food. I'm guessing you live in a stick house here and eat nothing but rice and beans? It must be hard to live off 100q a day here but kudos to you for trying to do as the locals do!

Common, this thread is about finding a vet. Where ever they go they will be contributing to economy. And in some small way contributing to the betterment of Guatemala and the person who made the sacrifices to become a veterinarian.

Let be respectful. We don't know if this person is here doing mission work and/or is living on a very limited budget. Wouldn't it be ironic if they were here working to help improve maternal care.

Either way this person has a right to care about their pet and the budget that supports them or their family.

My point is lets be respectful.
