90 Day Visa renewal

Hello again all,

I am getting conflicting information about how to do your one time allowed 90 day renewal. I have read that it costs Q100 and is quick and easy.
Have also heard that you need a bunch of other things as well (i.e.: need to stay out for 72 hours, need bunch of other info, etc)

Does anyone know where I can get the True information about the requirements?!

Thank you very much!

If it's your 1st renewal go to a lawyer. Here in Antigua I use the lawyer in Monoloco. Then after that renewal (90 days) you leave the country. I go to Tapachula, spend the night and return the next day. Yes, the law says 72 hours out of the country.

My husband and I have been living in Guatemala for a year next month. We are beginning the process for permanent residency, but up until now we have had to do the 90day visa renewal frequently. Id be happy to give you specific instructions if you shoot me an email, jandavergara@gmail.com. I actually just did this process two weeks ago

the 90 day renewal is easy no need for a lawyer. 1st If in Antigua stop and get yourself some passport size pictures in black and white (photo shop 6 ave and 4th street) 2nd get 2 photocopies of your visa picture page and current visa page along with 2 copies of your credit card front and back. 3th 1&2 in hand along with original passport go shopping in the big city, stop at Cemaco (the gringo hardware store) 7th ave zone 10, turn at the store, enterance to free guarded indoor parking on the right side. leave by the back door onto 6th ave, walk a block south cross 2 side streets and you are at immigration. go to the second floor and get in the information line (first line) they will give you a simple one page form to fill out and a number. When your number is called give them the stuff they will give you a receipt for your passport and tell you to return in 5 days, (they lie it takes on average 8 days). return to Cemaco buy something and get your parking ticket stamped. Stop at PriceSmart, Paiz and Walmart on the way home for some more shopping return 8 days latter to pick up your passport (line 2 give them the receipt set they will call you in a few minutes (lessen carefully their pronunciation of gringo names is terrible) go shopping for the things you forgot last week. you are finished. The cost is around q140. which you pay at the bank on the first floor when they give you the paper to do so. No need to leave the country this time. for second renewal take a 3 day tourist bus trip to mexico and your go to go

Can you tell me if the copies of the passport and visa stamp are on the same page or separate pages?

everything has to be on a separate pages (the poor trees!). Just to add, ive been doing this for 4 years now, and a top tip if you go to migraciones yourself is to get there at 8:45 am, park in Cemacos car park, expect to be there a good 3 hours, when you leave go to cemaco and buy something youll need one day like a lightbulb for a couple of Qs and get 2 hours of parking discounted!
