I have just learned about Transferwise though it has been around for while. They have great rates for international money transfers though they currently don't do transfers to Guatemala Quetzals. But one can VOTE to have it added as they are looking to increase the different currencies. Obviously, if they see a need they will fill it faster.

So vote for Guatemala! Go to their home page, then "Recipient Gets". Scroll down through the different currencies all the way to the bottom where it says "Other." A screen will pop up that will allow you to vote for a currency.

I was just helping a friend do a transfer from her U.S. bank to Brazil for an upcoming trip. The flat fee was 2%. The fees and thresholds vary according to currencies.
