Hello,

I'd moving to Honduras for work, probably over a year.

Any advice for a newbie?

Apartments in the area?
Is it safe to drive?
Crime?
Cost of living estimates for single guy..?
Hi-speed Internet access
Mobile phone coverage?

Any info that could be useful to me...

Thanks

Hello Horatio

I went to Comayagua in March and stayed for six weeks, this trip was to find where to live and bring over my belongings. I don't know much about it but I can tell you what I do know. The internet that I used while over there was Tigo it looks like a USB mobil internet but I am not sure if you can take it out of the house. It works perfect like in the US and it wasn't expensive. Mobile phone is also easy to have but different than the US. The cheaper one is prepaid which is a pain because you have to keep pre paying it the monthly plans a bit expensive.

You will find where to rent an apartment really easy and super cheap. Cost of living I would say is cheaper than here although not by much. For every US dollar you get 18 lempiras and if you round it out you can get by on your daily shopping. While I was there I heard a lot about crime but to tell you the truth I didn't see any. Although everyone I knew had a story to tell about getting robbed, hold them up with a knife movie style lol.

The people are super nice and the culture is really different. I liked my stay there. I will be moving back in February this time for good. Good luck and I hope everything goes well for you.

Oh! if you can before you go eat really good. That is the one thing I can tell you I really missed about the US. Unless you live in a major city you will not see to much food variation. So, no sushi and no subs.

Good luck :)
