Oakridge is a long way from Sandy Bay. On our first long visit to the island we decided to drive around and we were very surprised long it takes to get from place to place. Oakridge is 24 miles from Sandy Bay but it will take you at least an hour if not more. The roads are anything but straight and driving fast is usually a bad idea. I would take a day trip from one to the other but I would not travel it at night. Others may have differing opinions.

Are you staying at Oakridge for a specific reason. If you want to get to know the island staying in Sandy Bay , West End or West Bay may be a better idea. These areas are close to each other. Then you can take day trips to Oakridge or Punta Gorda. We wanted to go to Camp bay but we were there during rainy season and the roads were bad.

If you are looking to do things on the West end of the island you may be better off staying at the West end.

We are buying a vacation home on Calabash bight which is just next to Oakridge. Oakridge area is isolated from the West end, but there are bars like BJ backyard and Hole in the Wall. Most people get around by boat/boat taxi in this area. There is a beach club on the north end more toward the middle called Havana Beach club on Milton bight area. The have a beach club, horseback riding and other activities. We took a taxi to camp bay from Oakridge and it was about 30 minutes. The beach is very nice with a remote public area. There is also a bar at the east end of if.
