Moving from Canada...

Post New Topic

So I'm getting ready to move to Roatan Nov/Dec time frame. I'm seeing different posts about requirements and wanted to make sure I do whatever I need to do here before going. A couple of posts say I need to go to the Embassy here in Canada first, but others say that isn't needed??? Anyone on here that has gone through the process or knows someone that has?

Thanks all!

Are you talking about the process of leaving for 3 days every 90 - 120 days? Or, are you talking about the process to obtaining a Residency status?

Residency. Do I need to go in person to the honduran embassy in Canada first? or can it all be processed from there?

I am here now, I had to go through the Honduran Immigration dept. and let me tell you. It takes awhile. been here for 1-1/2 years and still dont have it. You have to have your visa restamped ever 90 days, you can go to the airport in SPS to do that. Things move very slow here

Are you from Canada? I know it'll be slow and painful to get finished, but I don't want to get there and find out I needed to do something here first. Canada is different from the US, something to do with the apostille system?

Contact a Honduran attorney. You will need to use one anyways. No guess work that way.

When I did it, I took my Police Criminal Report in person to the Embassy in Ottawa. They did something and then I had to take it to Canadian Foriegn Affairs a few blocks away where they did something and then take it back to the Embassy where they did something else. I then brought that back to Roatan and gave to my Lawyer who was then able to proceed with obtaining my Residency card. I have heard of others from Canada who were able to complete this process without doing it in person.
