So far this is the only blog I could find that was close to Roatan. Seems this is primarily for those moving to the mainland. We are moving to Roatan in Jul ish of 2017. Just got back from a two week island visit, found a home and offer is in the works. If this blog is not for Roatan can some direct me to one. Thank you.

The forum is for both the mainland and Roatan- lots of posts on Roatan. Feel free to ask any questions you have, there are several of us on this forum that live on the island (it's been my home for 18 years).

Grateful for your willingness to help with ? regarding Roatan. Returned from 2d trip yesterday, stayed two weeks at Las Rocas dive resort. Placed an offer on a home in Sandy Bay. Working with Phil Brown. Greatest concerns are for my mom who is moving with us. She is 85. She is an avid Pinochle player and is concerned she won't find people to play (seems petty, but very important to her). I know there is a new hospital in French Harbor with US protocols. Phil said there are two more. Where are they located? More ? to come. Appreciate you.

I live in Sandy Bay- whereabouts did you buy? I'm near Solgas.
I'm not familiar with Pinochle, so I don't know if she'll find anyone else to play, but if not, I guess she can teach some people :) There's a Facebook group called 'Roatan Community', you could post on there and see if anyone knows of someone that plays.
There's a public hospital in Coxen Hole, and Woods Medical Clinic, which I think is open 24 hours. In Sandy Bay, Clinica Esperanza is a wonderful non-profit healthcare clinic (I'd suggest paying for the 'rapid care', as it helps to support the clinic, and means you won't be waiting hours, it costs 500 lemp). They're open Mon-Fri from 7am to 6pm, and have a lab. There's also a doctor at Anthony's Key Resort by the hyperbaric chamber that will see patients for whatever reasons (they also have an x-ray machine there, and sometimes an orthopedic specialist that comes). If you have any questions about island life that you don't want to post on the forum, you're welcome to send me an email at roatanhostel@gmail.com
