" My husband has the possibility of a 6-12 month assignment in Hong kong. Because it''s a short stay, his company would most likely not pay for international schools. We have four daughters : 7th grade, 4th grade and 2nd grade twins. Are there good local neighborhood schools that are taught in English? If so, where are they? You can contact the education department for further information: Tel: 852-2892 6290 / Automatic Enquiry Service (to receive the information by fax - beware, there is a lot of it!) 852-2891 0088 or write to the Education department, Wu Chung House, 213 Queen''s Road East, Central, Hong Kong. They also have a web site - www. edu.gov.hk Most curricula are catered for, including English, Canadian, American and Australian. Local schools generally teach in Cantonese (except a few that have been granted special status, but places in these schools are hard to come by) and the system is quite different to western methods. My three children attend Yew Chung International School, which is excellent, but also very expensive.
