" Hello, First of all I want to introduce myself. My name is Fred Schut and I work for the Dutch broadcasting company BNN. In February we¹ll broadcast a new travel programme. We¹ve seen enough of trendy and nice places in the world. Because of that we¹re looking for country¹s / regions or city¹s wich are not really attractive for tourists. We want to show how it is to live in these areas and to make fun there. We want to tell the positive, touristic, stories but also the other side. My question to you is: does anybody has a good idea?. Please let me know! Fred Schut BNN "

" That would make a refreshing change! Against advice of tourist offices, my husband and I hired 4x4s in both the Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico and Peru (south), so that we could drive around the areas and have a true taste of the cultures, rather than going for the ''safer'' option of a package/organised tour. We had a wonderful time in both places. We did the same on our ""round-the-world"" trip, which was exhausting but definitely worth it. We now live in Hong Kong, but have both travelled extensively. Here, I take visitors to the New Territories, outlying islands - basically anywhere away from the skyscrapers in Central and the usual tourist trail. Hong Kong is about 80% countryside, but you wouldn''t know it from all the postcards and tourist information available outside of here. "
