hi chicago! the side-by-side double stroller will not work well for you in HK, especially if you do not have your own vehicle here. Note, 2nd hand cars in HK are very inexpensive compared to the US, are easy to register and getting a domestic driving license is also very easy. Recommended for weekend exploring. Best not to bring the side by side stroller if you can help it. A back to front will work better (narrow sidewalks etc) but buy it in the US! Most products in HK are from the UK and are VERY expensive compared to Babies-R-Us and the like in the US. Bring all the basics that your kids have already and stock up on your favourite shampoos, toothpastes etc before coming. HK has most everything you need, but you will be surprised by the cost of things here, especially baby products. Very limited selection of N. American products too. I do not know if car seats are mandatory here, but for your childrens' own safety you will want them. We have a 7.5 month old girl and use a Graco carseat in taxi's all the time (with seatbelt), though for quick trips we sometimes use our Baby Bjorn carrier with her facing our chest. If you like hiking, HK is great for it but buy a backpack style pack for the little one in the US. Buy your highchair, toys etc in the US before coming here - you won't regret it! Example - room to room monitors in US are about US$40 at BB-r-US, here they are over US$100 for the most basic model from the UK. As for must-haves that depends on what you like. You can find anything in HK but either at a top price or dubious quality if local product. Bottom line - stock up before you come. Suncreens, UV protected swim gear for the kids, etc buy in US - can get here, but again, pricey. Hope this helps if you have any more specific Qs email me on urbanbabyhk@hotmail.com
Cheers and good luck!
