Hi,
My Fiance and I recently found out we will be moving to Hong Kong in the fall of this year as he got a job with Cathay Pacific. We are wanting to start looking into taking our cat there with us. We were just there for 10 days for his interview and it seems pretty common for people to take their pets, even cats. From what I understand they only require 30 days in home quarentine ? Any advice or direction would be appreciated, I'd like to cover all corners !

BTW - one of my friends brought her pet rat from Australia, so you should have no problem! MInd you, she said the Hong Kong officials were very bemused at the idea of a pet rat :)

It's no problem at all to move cats to HK. We moved from USA to HK with 2 cats. There was no quarantine and our cats got thro' customs with zero issues. You do need health certificates and vaccinations to be in order. We used the services of a professional pet-mover to make sure everything went smoothly. There's a pretty good HK company (run by English) which you can contact about moving your pets here: www.wishyouwereherehk.com

Sharon, You don't say what "they" are - but if you contact the department of ag and fish here, they should be able to help. Their website's pet section is http://www.afcd.gov.hk/quarantine/animals_e.htm
If necessary, I suggest you telephone them - they have english speaking staff members who will be able to help you. Gillian
