Questioning about moving to Hong Kong

Hi, I'm new here and am anticipating a move to Hong Kong the beginning of 2010. My boyfriend and I are going to be moving together. The thing is, he already holds a HK ID, so as I have researched, I don't believe requires a work visa or has a limited amount of stay (ie the 90 days w/o a visa).

I've been scoping around here to see if there might be someone to give me some advice on my upcoming move. I've tried to e-mail in questions about visas with no luck of anything except typical computer generated responses.

One question I have is, if my boyfriend's family who are permanent residents of HK sponsor me, they can only sponsor a visitor visa, correct?

Anyhow, anybody who might have some tips or be available for me to ask some questions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Samm821,

This is Joseph Wong from Hong Kong. I am a Canadian citizen and I returned to Hong Kong recently from Canada.

I am working for Century 21 Real Estate in HK and I look after the relocation Department for the company. I have a website about moving to Hong Kong: http://tiptopwebsite.com/worldwidepropertiesforsale You can go to my website under "Do you need a visa to come to Hong Kong?" and check it out yourself the requirements about living and working in Hong Kong.
Or you can go to the link to the HK Immigration Department for more info.
http://www.immd.gov.hk/ehtml/home.htm

From what I understand that you do require a visa to stay in HK for more than 90 days even though your bf has a HK ID card unless he marries you and then you can apply for the ID card as his wife.

I am setting up a relocation department for my company and we are looking for expats to help us serve anyone moving to HK. Would you be interested? You can work from home and we can pay you referral fee(s) on any successful referral and when you are here in HK, then you can apply for the real estate license. I can send you some study materials if you are interested. Please send your reply to: jojocan2006ca@yahoo.com
