We are temporarily moving to Hong Kong for about 4 months. My husband's company has an office there and he has traveled there several times for several weeks at a time over this past year. I was wondering if we need to do anything special as far as paperwork goes, vaccinations, etc? Or do we just purchase a ticket and need not worry about anything else? Thank you!

There are many things to organize, of course, but immunisations are not needed unless you intend to travel to China or other Asian destinations - for those trips, you can get your shots here, either privately or through one of the government clinics. For your children, just make sure you are up to date with their immunization pogramme and you should be fine. We also routinely immunise against Hepatitis here - you may want to check this out with your doctor before you leave.
For the other stuff, I assume your husband has a work permit and you have a place to stay and schooling sorted out (depending on the children's ages) or you plan to home school. If not, you may want to start looking at schools in your area.
HK has a great infrastructure and an able civil service but can be a inflexible at times. i recommend you bring originals of all your birth certs and your marriage certificate and get passport size photos taken - we get through quite a lot here! Also, if you intend to work, bring originals of your qualifications, too.
if you want to ask anything else, feel free to email me personally at gilliankew@yahoo.com or post on the site. Regards, Gillian Kew

There are several thing to see, how old are your kids, what you plan, do you want to stay there just for fun or any other task. I donot think that any vaccination are needed however it depend on the age of your kids, there are some mandatory vaccinations for kids at the initial age, Hong KOng is a nice place to live and your four month will pass easily. You must have some place to live. Transport system is the best in Hong KOng.
Main thing you need to check that either you require a visa and what nationality you are? and for how long you will get visa etc.
Enjoy Hong KOng. Shahid
