For many newcomers and those considering living in Hong Kong, access to quality medical care is a top priority. Please help those moving to your area by posting your experiences with the local health care system. Also, include any information about health insurance in Hong Kong. Be sure to post the name of your city, region or town.

Hello, I have been living in Hong Kong for the past three years. I have gone to a public hospital and a private one. Both will help but they are worlds apart. Hong Kong provides hospital care if you are a Hong Kong Citizen if you are here for work or vacationing then you will have to pay. The public hospitals are very busy due to Hong Kong having over 7 million people so if you do go to a public hospital you will have to wait a long time and the service will be very basic like 8 people in one room and most will not know how to speak English. The private hospitals will provide a 5 star hotel experience. You should look into a international insurance plan. Lucky for me after my public hospital experience which did help i went with a broker which led me to a good insurance plan for me. I know of two that can help or give you information. Try giving Globalsurance or Pacific Prime a call or look them up on the internet.
