Hello,

I am in the interviewing process for a teaching job in Hong Kong. I am the sole provider for our family of four (2 kids, 3 and under). What are the average monthly expenses (rent, food, utilities, metro ...etc) like for a family that size in Hong Kong? I do not know what the school salary is like yet, but want to be prepared and realistic. Thanks!

Hello Rivelarsi , I am from Miami, USA and I have been living in Hong Kong for the past three and a half years. A apartment measuring 500 sq ft in a old building with nothing more then the apartment (meaning no park, pool, anything) will cost a minimum of 8,000 to 15,000 HK Dollars. To get a nicer place but about the same size which will have a pool and more will cost 18,000 and up. Electricity is alot more in Hong Kong then it is in USA. Food is about the same (25 to 500 HK Dollars per person)and cell phone is a lot cheaper. Use of train will be about 20 to 30 HK Dollars per day.
