" Greetings, Recently I developed a romantic interest in Budapest. In order to carry our relationship further and get to know her better, I intend to move to Budapest for 6 months (or more.) I plan to go in mid-September. Many questions I might have are already answered on this board, but I do have a few more that I hope some of you can help me with: 1. I intend to work while I am in Budapest. However, the work I will be doing is contracted for American Companies and does not involve any business in Hungary. Since I am a programmer, I can perform this work on my computer there and ship it back to the US by e-mail or FTP. Colleagues in the states will interface with the clients. Essentially, it''s what I do now. I don''t think I need to mention this type of work to any authorities since it''s all ""off-shore"", however, I need to bring my computer (I cannot afford a laptop). Are there issues with bringing in computer equipment. It''s an expensive desktop, but not much more than a home PC. 2. I read earlier that animals are easier to bring into Europe than I thought - ie. a quarantine isn''t required with the appropriate certificates. Does this apply to cats, and have any of you brought cats into Europe or Hungary? I have two, but one will stay behind with friends. The other I may not be able to arrange a home for in time. 3. I plan to travel back to the US at least twice during this period. Will I be likely to run into any trouble leaving and re-entering Hungary without a long term visa? The person I am seeing is a Romanian citizen and so cannot give me a letter of invitation to help me obtain a long term visit visa. Any other advice or tips?
