I have not done business with them but I think two banks are required. In this case one in Hungary and one in the US. In Hungary they don't use/cash check typically but might work the other way around since we in the US use them and it is common place. Of course not really sure if US banks would honor a check from Hungary. Sorry couldn't be more help!

You can do it is through some form of foreign exchange company online. One that I have previously used, which was very smooth is http://transferwise.com. You simply have to make an account and verify your identity, then you make a request for how much you'd like to send, you initiate a transfer from your bank here to theirs, specify where you want the money sent and they'll transfer it directly into your account. Site-wise, you'll have a lot of options to choose from - I can only recommend Transfer Wise as I've used them, but depending on the amount you would like to transfer, you can probably find better and worse rates online, just make sure you do due diligance on whether the company is respectable!
