" Hello. I''m moving to Noida for a new job in mid-March from Minneapolis, MN. Would love to get a western perspective on what to expect when I get there and any information on where to find other expats. Any help or information is appreciated. "

" Hi! Be prepared for sights/sounds/smells. be prepared for servants around you. do NOT initially try to drive in the city. be prepared for some level of laziness/corruption. do not get on your high horse. be prepared for intense heat waves may-june. do not stay in non-air conditioned houses. be prepared to be treated as a superior(by most) purely coz of skin. be prepared for a lot of warmth, lot of intelligence(and laziness). noida(very near delhi) so there are lots of americans there.great social life. contact the embassy. preferably try and stay in delhi and commute(esp: if family) "

" I have been to Noida/New Delhi twice in the last 6 weeks and expect to see a lot more of it. There''s even a potential move their possible. There are very nice neighborhoods in Noida (my company''s leasing a house there). So Jim, are you there and how''s it going? "

" I''m here. Used to get updated when the thread was replied to. I''ve spent 3 out of the last 4 months here, ended up leasing a flat in Delhi near the Oberoi hotel (couldn''t stay in the hotel forever). Things are going well. I came with an open mind and told myself not to try and compare to living in the U.S. My thoughts are that if you do that, you''d go completely nuts. If anyone wants any specific information on mistakes and successes that I''ve had, let me know via email at jxma@aol.com and I''ll do my best to help. "
